Re: Unable to open AUP (Windows 10)

So you got the nuclear option where it's possible you interrupted saving the project before Audacity got done writing the AUP file. It does that last.

If this is an edited project, you're dead. If it's a raw, mono capture, there is a technique to try and rescue it. Which is it?

Re: Unable to open AUP (Windows 10)

Please note that my graphic has Hollywood Magic to make the text look nicely laid-out, neat and orderly. That's for humans. Computers don't need that, so your file will be all crunched together and rough to read. Use the text editor search tool to find the projname=" entry. Let us know, and let...

Re: Unable to open AUP (Windows 10)

Leading space? I don't think putting a plain space anywhere else matters. You said I can't change the project name. What I meant was Normal Mortals can't change it. First step: Make a backup of your AUP file and _DATA folder. Anything. Thumb drive. Make it so you can't damage them if something goes...

Re: Unable to open AUP (Windows 10)

I updated audacity and still nothing. So you know already to actually reset Audacity with the tick box in the Windows installer? If you don't, Audacity will just install itself with your old preferences and settings, whether or not they're damaged. I need to have my data folder present That's just ...

Re: Guitar sound editing?

it's common to double-track, or triple-track-or more.
There's nothing wrong with Audacity overdubbing...

Perform to yourself multiple times.

Re: Guitar sound editing?

a good mic and a soundproof studio and you can record it.
Exactly correct. And a recorder that's not trying to help you. Nothing is more crazy-making than to get your sound and not be able to record it.

Re: A problem while using stereo tracks with Audio Sequencer

Could Windows be trying to "help" you? Windows can have sound processing both record and playback (said the guy who once got stuck with a machine in "Cathedral Effects.)"

Re: Guitar sound editing?

help me get a good Stoner Rock/Metal tone As you point out in your post. A lot of distortions and damages sound like rock band guitars. The trick is to get the system to do a perfect, clean recording and stop helping you. From there you can do whatever you want. It's not true any more, but Bruno in...

Re: BARELY RECORDING SOUND FROM MIC.

If the bouncing sound meters are OK and the blue waves seem to be the right size, then the show is probably OK and something in the playback system got shifted. Make sure the little volume slider to the left of the blue waves is in the middle. Check the little speaker icon and slider up in the Audac...

Re: New tracks out of sync with each other

I don't know why it should change (other than system slowing down or becoming overloaded). That's Recording Latency. Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Recording > Latency Correction. That tells Audacity how much correction to apply so that the new performance lines up perfectly with the old ones or rh...
