Re: inversion

Dynamic (moving coil) microphone plugged into an XLR to 1/8" stereo adapter and straight into the soundcard. It's almost certain this is producing out-of-phase stereo tracks by adapter mismatch. It's also almost certain all these problems will vanish if they start using their 660 recorder which...

Re: Sound quality is garbage

There's missing pieces sprinkled around this post. Originally I recorded them on my old laptop running windows 7 Dell vostro 1500 64 bit. Using the built-in microphone? I know everybody always looks down on those, but they can work pritty well if you're careful. ON my old laptop they sounded great. ...

Re: 24/96 recording cutting off about 20khz

Did you find the error? There are reasons to record at 24/96 even though that would seem silly overkill. Studios do it because it gives them a bit of elbow room. 44.1 doesn't encode perfectly beyond about 17KHz audio. Beyond that, it uses artifact management and trickery to seem like it's doing a go...

Re: Editing an MP3 file

A note: The first option, Exporting the show at a higher MP3 quality doesn't guarantee a perfect sounding show. All that does is reduce the sound damage increase . The only way to make the damage increase be zero is Export as a WAV or other uncompressed file format, which I assume you don't want to ...

Re: Editing an MP3 file

You should use a dedicated MP3 editor—assuming the work is simple cutting and arranging. MP3 editors know how to work on the MP3 data without applying recompression. If you need anything more complicated than that, say effects or filters, then you're stuck with Audacity. At the end of the edit sessi...

Is that one of the Newer MacBook Pros? Do you have a scanner stripe below the screen?

Do you still have Go > Utilities > Audio-MIDI-Setup? That's one place you can tell the Mac what you want it to do.

Re: Input level rises after 8-9 seconds

Remember this? My Logitech headset is a communications device and comes with automatic pitch restrictions and sound processing. I've never been able to stop it and it makes the microphone quality not up to AudioBooks or better quality podcasts. More like cellphone voice. You have the Logitech sickne...

Re: Input level rises after 8-9 seconds

Right. So it doesn't increase forever. It takes your low voice and progressively increases the volume until it's happy. It appears to reach maximum happiness around the ten second mark. The word "Essence" is very important. It's loud and would normally cause overload distortion but oddly t...

Re: Allow normalizing and amplifying with amplitude

70% volume ... It doesn't make sense. It also makes zero sense that they insist on posting master works as MP3, particularly because they're going to resample down to other products and services. If you're going to complain about quality/standards problems, that would be right at the top of my list...

Marantz 660
Since you're the proud owner of a 660, how do you get the work into the computer? Thumb drive? Data Transfer Cable? Both?
