Re: Can't Record in Mono with FocusRite Scarlett Solo
Other DAWs let you select which channel you want to record from. Such as? I ran across a lot of complaints about not being able to manage channels. It wasn't just Audacity. I want to assign channel 2 to the mono track. Yeah, I know what you want, but audio arriving via USB tends to gray out the Mac...

Re: My Playback sounds so bad HELP :(
We should probably have a short test sound file.
I wrote quick instructions about producing a test clip. Just speak. You don't have to sing. 20 seconds.

Re: My Playback sounds so bad HELP :(
Without hearing it, we can take a stab...or two. If you're listening to the computer while you record, you're listening to Machine Latency. The time it takes your voice to go into the computer, turn around and come back out. Your voice is "one computer late." It's not normal, but if you're...

Re: I'm learning how to make podcasts and I want to know how
Shift-R is Append Record. That will jam your voice right onto the end of the old track. But. That will sound like you jammed your voice onto the end of the music. Mute the music tracks with the MUTE control (on the left) and just start recording your new track. That will appear as a second track und...

Re: Can't Record in Mono with FocusRite Scarlett Solo
I wrote a note to Sweetwater Sound. We'll find out if they know.
I don't have a lot of hope. All the instructional videos show them working the way we already know.

Re: Can't Record in Mono with FocusRite Scarlett Solo
I have a Behringer UM2 and I couldn't get it to work either. The headphone service is a mix, but the data link is either 1-mono or 1-2 Stereo. I tried all the tricks. The Mac will let me mess with the channel assignments and management, but it also assumes once I digitize something, that's the way I...

Re: Input level rises after 8-9 seconds
That's not to say that everything in the product line is suspect. The Yeti Pro® is a respectable microphone. Not "Pro Yeti," "Blackout Yeti," "Studio Yeti" or any other combination. The Yeti Pro is a higher-end microphone that has both USB and XLR connections on the bot...

Re: Audacity wont open AUP file
An Audacity Project Manager, AUP file, is a text file and will open in a text editor. Open yours in your editor (don't save anything) and see if it's healthy. I expect it to look something like this. This is a cleaned up version of a real project. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/aupFileGraphic.pn...

Oh and stay away from this adapter.
That one claims to allow you to plug your XLR microphone into your soundcard.
It can cause a number of serious technical and production problems.

Re: Input level rises after 8-9 seconds
I need a mic with either a USB connector You will be tempted with a Blue Yeti microphone. That one does plug directly into the computer with a USB cable and most people find it works OK. We do have a number of people on the forum posting about Yetis that don't work well. That's when it stops being ...
