Re: Lame

Should I not be doing this?
You should. And we expect it to work. It's also a terrific idea to get Audacity from that link, too. Because it's open source, there are a lot of Audacity offerings and some work better than others.

Re: Burning files to CD

I'm sure you have a reason for using Nero, but Windows Media will also burn Audio CDs. Does that work?

Re: Burning files to CD

Changing the setting doesn't affect the fact that it won't record.
That's not why I asked. And the second question?

Re: Sound quality is garbage

A word on restarting. If you start having serious problems, cold restart with Shift-Shutdown. It takes longer and Windows closes and resets more things. Regular restart is the quickie convenience that may give you a warm feeling, but doesn't reset everything.

Re: Lame

Why are you installing Lame?

Are you getting it from here (scroll down)?

http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/

Will it let you install FFMpeg? They have different jobs, but installing both is harmless. I'm wondering if either worked.

Re: Burning files to CD

Does it ask you anywhere in the process what length you want the song gap to be? It's normally two seconds between songs for an Audio CD, but most CD Authoring Programs let you change it.

Has this ever worked?

Re: trouble recording computer output

I've recently reverted back to a system image, Like someone asking if you know where the fire extinguishers are...and won't tell you why. Why would you revert to a System Image? just straight from the sound card. Where is the soundcard getting it from? Podcast? Surveillence track? Skype? it pauses ...

Re: Help Please - Cleaning up Interviews

Audacity can't separate voices, music and sounds from each other so you can work on some without the others.

That and once you have trouble understanding words, you're not cleaning up any more. That's Disaster Recovery and Audacity doesn't do so well with that.

Re: Plugin manager?

Hope this makes sense. That's a common complaint, along with not being able to add or remove effects and plugins out of order. Audacity forms UNDO by saving the whole show with the new sound—and it backs out of corrections the same way. There is no 'out of order' and other than writing it down or s...

Re: My Playback sounds so bad HELP :(

it said it is too big(more than 2 mb) but it's only a 20 sec recording... It needs to be a 20 second mono recording—one blue wave. If you post stereo—two blue waves—then you can only post ten seconds. But the playback sounds really bad that my voice feel so "shaky" Remember we're doing th...
