Re: How to get a list of effects from a piece of audio

I don't know of any. We can't take effects out, either, so you can't start over. Did you keep the original voice work? We recommend strongly to export a perfect quality WAV of each original performance and put it in a safe place before you do anything to it. If the voice work was still in Audacity a...

Re: Having a problem with ACX RMS spec

Right then. The quote is "Good Lord willin' and the creek don't rise." Try the correction suite on a longer passage. You should know that the Noise Measurement section of ACX Check can be faked out. If you have a presentation perfect in every way except you never have a half-second or more...

Re: Having a problem with ACX RMS spec

It was originally called "LF Rolloff" while it was in development. The release version is Low Rolloff. Exactly the same thing. We would rather it did all its tricks without affecting the voice at all...but it does. If you have a lower pitch voice, you might notice Low Rolloff "tighten...

Re: Question about removing sound

Probably not in the way you mean. let's say that I want to delete/mute every sound that is below 20 dB, is this a possible thing? There's Effect > Noise Gate. That one can sense if the overall volume of a presentation drops below a certain value and drops it the rest of the way to zero or some lower...

Re: Help: I am Essing and de-essing challenged

I would not be shocked if on cheap condenser microphones, the rubber band stops the grill from sympathetic vibration. Take the pencil and smack the grill. If it rings as a bell, put the rubber band on.

Re: Help: I am Essing and de-essing challenged

Maybe a sock over my head is worth a try as well. I wasn't joking. If your microphone is naturally bright and crisp, sometimes getting rid of a little of the crisp right at the top is worth while. I'm going to ask one of our new audiobook performers to check out various clothing groups over her mic...

Re: Unequal remote/local sound record level in Skype recordi

Audacity is not recommended for recording a Skype interview. Your local voice is a service of the computer, so that usually records just fine. The far side voice is a service of Skype and they do not share well. You may have also noticed what you're really recording is the Skype bubbly cancellation ...
