Re: Recording level keeps going down
The only thing I have is try a cold shutdown. Windows 8 and 10 have a shutdown and restart that leaves parts of Windows running. If you start having Audacity troubles, we've been recommending an old-fashioned complete shutdown where everything stops. In Win10, it's Shift-Shutdown. In Win8 I'm not su...

Re: Recording level keeps going down
If you set your recording lower than 5, does it slowly ooze up to 5? So it really likes 5 and tries to go there?
That's a classic Auto Gain Control and another action like that has appeared on the forum recently.

Re: Recording level keeps going down
Did you just start using any of the Chat apps? Skype? New Game? Windows hasn't been a neutral, uninterested party for sound in a long time. I once got a Windows machine with Cathedral Effects stuck on playback and they didn't tell me. There's lot of things Windows can do to "help" with com...

Re: Recording level keeps going down
the recording level I set it at keeps going down by itself. How far does it go? If you keep recording, does it go all the way to silence? Does it droop a little from where you set it? Audacity doesn't affect recording level during a performance, so whatever is happening is being done before Audacit...

Re: Unequal remote/local sound record level in Skype recordi
I notice there are very frequent changes to Skype We noticed that, too. There was a time for a while there that even Paid Pamela licenses threw in the towel and couldn't keep up. That's why I did it in hardware. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PodCast_Studio_WS-600.jpg The older machine on the r...

I thought there was an older process.

Re: Having a problem with ACX RMS spec
OK, here. Wear your developer hat for a minute. I started with Sample 2, Aug 23 Raw. Effect > Equalize > Low Rolloff. Effect > RMS Normalize to -20dB. Analyze > Contrast > Measure selection (write it down) > Close. Screen Shot 2017-08-25 at 18.36.11.png Analyze > ACX Check > Write down the RMS value...

Re: Having a problem with ACX RMS spec
I'm going to start over recording the book I was having such a problem with. What happens if you just throw one of your existing chapters in the mill and see what happens? We know the noise is going to be high because you weren't using the appropriate microphone pattern. Which one were you using, b...

Re: How to take Screen Capture shot?
Win7. Start > All Programs > Accessories > Snipping Tool. It lets you drag the cursor around the screen to draw a box around what you want. It's pretty simple from there. Editing tools, Save As, etc. That's how I got the Windows volume slider illustration. WIN7VolumeMixer.PNG I normally drive a Mac....

You're the rap voice, right? Any reason it's only coming out of the right speaker?
