Re: overdub track recording slow, lower pitch 2.12

Your error goes the wrong way. Normally when a machine runs short of resources it records slowly or drops bits. That gives a fast playback.

What happens if you overdub a second time? Do tracks two and three match? If they do, then it's not an instability or machine process error.

Re: overdub track recording slow, lower pitch 2.12

Try Windows cold shutdown. Shift - Shutdown. It will take longer than a regular restart or shutdown, but Windows resets and restarts a bunch more things when you do that. Post back when you do that whether or not it worked. These "for no reason" failures are making everybody crazy. By the ...

Re: audacity 2.1.3

The extremes of each tiny window are click and drag points. You can put the windows wherever you want including in a couple of cases outside of the Audacity work window altogether. My personal favorite is to change the sound meter range to 96dB (max of 16-bit) and stretch the meters across the whole...

Denon's headphones output
You should be careful with that. The headphone connection usually comes with a volume control somewhere on the unit. Once you get a transfer you like, don't touch that knob, or mark it carefully so you can always go back.

Re: Executable file won't open/run

Did you used to have an older version of Audacity on this machine? The 2.1.3 installer should have asked you if you want to reset all settings and preferences. Did you say yes?

You can let Audacity play a lot of different sound files by adding the FFMpeg software. Scroll down. http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/ You can force Windows 7 to tell you what the file types are by setting it to un-hide file extensions. https://www.howtohaven.com/system/show-file-extensi...

Re: How to Record Audio from Skype

Since Microsoft bought Skype, they have been making some very serious and rapid changes. Many of the older recorder software packages and even Audacity itself either don't work at all, deliver distorted work, or are unstable and unreliable, or in extreme, unsupported or missing. As far as I can tell...
