Re: How correct is Audacity when it automatically adjusts?
There is one other odd thing. There's a difference between overdubbing and Perfect Overdubbing. Perfect Overdubbing is when your own live performance appears perfectly in your headphones in addition to the backing track. As a fuzzy rule, you can't do that by plugging the headphones into the computer...

Re: How correct is Audacity when it automatically adjusts?
The only way it wouldn't work is if you had an underpowered machine and the correction kept moving. We can't help you with that.

Oh. Surveillance. We don't do that. Whatever corrections you can derive on your own is what's available.

Re: Filtering out background noise
It is recommended you make a WAV (Microsoft) copy of the original work and save that somewhere safe. Once you apply filters or effects and close Audacity, there is no UNDO no matter how hard you press Control-Z. That's the end of the world. Audacity Projects won't help you, either. They don't preser...

Re: How correct is Audacity when it automatically adjusts?
Audacity doesn't automatically adjust for Recording Latency. You have to do that. The short form is: create a rhythm track, play that back in overdubbing mode into your headphones. Jam the headphones next to your microphone. Compare the two tracks. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/latencyBefore.jp...

Re: Behringer UFO202 & Windows 10
A recent poster asked about using a selection of different USB microphones. A stand-alone recorder was in the list. In my opinion, the stand-alone recorder wins. Turn the computer off and that will help with room noise. Windows machines are intended to let you conference, communicate or chat and the...

Re: Combining voice track with music track
I think I see what's happening. Most people consider auto mixing a defect because there's no way to filter or correct the voice without messing up the music. Audacity will automatically mix any active tracks into a finished show when you export a sound file. I believe it ignores all the muted tracks...

Re: Muffle voice recording
Here we are at home with the big kids. It's not just muffled. It's also very highly distorted after I got rid of most of the cotton wool. So your feeling is right. It's trash. In my opinion it's not just a microphone problem. I like to take difficult problems upside down. If somebody wrote me a big ...
