Re: Saved as MONO and Reopened as Stereo ?

is it possible to just use the extact thing
You don't know what "the thing" is. The music system equalizer I had was just printed in whatever looked pretty. It wasn't in dB. A friend of mine had a stand-alone equalizer that did have dB markings. It wasn't cheap.

Re: Saved as MONO and Reopened as Stereo ?

It does not reveal that sadly No, not directly. That's why I said you had to figure it out by applying it multiple times and measure what happens. One of the tones is 500. So make a tone at 500Hz and about -10dB or so. Apply the filter. Measure what happened to the volume of the 500Hz tone. If it w...

Re: Saved as MONO and Reopened as Stereo ?

I bet I can get you 98% of the way there if you can tell me the boost or dip values of those sliders. The frequencies are posted. You knew this wasn't going to be easy, right? There is no job that a good engineer can't make much worse. You can figure out the boost and dip values by generating a tone...

Re: Noise Gate Crashing Audacity 2.1.2

Any reason you're using 2.1.2 instead the current 2.1.3? http://www.audacityteam.org/download/mac/ And just for form, you are actually installing Audacity, right, not using from inside the DMG system? How long is the show? Audacity is not the biggest genius about managing memory and it's only a sing...

Re: Saved as MONO and Reopened as Stereo ?

If you can get your app to export Nyquist code, you can make Audacity execute that code. You can also write your own. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist It's not crazy-hard. This is the Nyquist code to make the LF_rolloff_for_speech.xml rumble filter for audiobooks. Screen Shot 2017-09-12 at ...

Re: appending imports

Audacity doesn't have Append/Import as you probably found out. You can import all your music and the tracks will stack up one above the other. Then, Tracks > Align Tracks. I think it's End to End, but you can experiment with short tracks. That will shove all the tracks except the first one to the ri...

Re: AudioBooks and Left side hard of hearing

There is something you can do to boost the volume. Apply Chris's Compressor with the first setting Compress Ratio changed from 0.5 to 0.8. Do this to the work before you unbalance it. You'll have to download and install Chris Compressor. https://theaudacitytopodcast.com/chriss-dynamic-compressor-plu...

Re: AudioBooks and Left side hard of hearing

Make sure you have safety copies of your audiobooks. If Audacity or your computer goes into the dirt during processing, the crash may take the works with it, never to be seen again. There's not a lot of "up" volume left to go. Audiobooks are presented with peak volumes in the -3dB range. M...

Re: Mastering tips requested

Did we ever establish how you're listening? It's not unusual for a new user to cut a music track that sounds perfect at home only to have it sound really different when presented on a larger sound system. If you're doing this for your own amusement it doesn't make any difference, but if it's for wid...
