Re: Mixing problem with stereo audio for podcast

I wrote a short paper about a microphone to computer adapter that should be avoided. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=96907 It seems like a gift from the angels. A simple, inexpensive cable to adapt your good quality XLR microphone to your computer. Depending on your computer, ...

Re: Mixing problem with stereo audio for podcast

Before you mess with your sound works, you need to have good backups. When you get done with a voice recording, Export as a WAV (Microsoft) copy and put it in a safe place. There is no "Audacity crashed during the edit and took my only voice track with it." Even worse, an Audacity crash to...

Re: I can't save equalization curves anymore - please help

Did you export and save your curves as stand-alone XML? MyFunkyCurve.xml If you do decide to reinstall Audacity, there is an option where you can [X] reset all your preferences and settings. If you do that, Audacity will start from First Birthday and yes, you will need to put all your curves in agai...

Here it is.

Scroll down. You don't have that DC Offset thing because you're coming from and going to the same track.

Re: Delete a section of the song

This is a greatly simplified illustration of a click or pop. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/BadAndGoodEdit.jpg The bad edit is on top. In general, you slide the edit very slightly sooner or later until the majority of the blue waves line up. Yes, is it a pain in the neck because you have to ...

Re: Delete a section of the song

I see. We may get to wait for another helper elf. Heavy, detailed editing isn't my thing and it's harder than you think because of the way Audacity manages edit points. You will need zoom in and out of the blue waves to see what you're doing. -- Control-ScrollWheel or Control-ScrubVertical will zoom...

Re: Delete a section of the song

where is the delete command The easiest is the DEL key on your keyboard. Also, Edit > Delete with your mouse, or I think in Windows it's shortcut Control-K. However, I can feel the storm clouds gathering. What's the goal? I mean the real goal. Every time you delete a note, it's going to make the so...

Re: get noise profile does not give any information

part 2 becomes enabled when you open the dialog again. Yes, but. Noise Reduction will always open with the last known good profile, whether it's for your show or not. I don't know of any good way to make sure it's going to do what you want. We can help if you're running into noise problems trying t...

Re: Saved as MONO and Reopened as Stereo ?

would that mean I would then get my idea back of HARD LEFT , HARD RIGHT , DEAD CENTER Single Mono Tracks then ? I'm guessing yes, as long as you don't need them to play at the same time. Audacity can give you three separate mono sound files with the work as you posted. So you can play Voice and Mus...

Re: get noise profile does not give any information

It's not going to tell you what your noise is. It's a bloodhound. You let it sniff the noise and it goes howling off down the show until it finds something that matches. Full stop. If it fails, then you have to do the actual analysis and that's a lot harder. Are you reading for an AudioBook? We have...
