Re: Understanding the Plot Spectrum graph better on Analysis

Yes, you do have to pay attention. Plot Spectrum changes range to make the display give you the maximum information possible. That's usually more confusing than it needs to be. That might be an Audacity change request. The numbers go from zero which is the maximum loudness before the digital system ...

Re: Normalisation and compression with two separate voice tr

If you successfully post enough times, forum moderation drops away and posting speed picks up. We're still all volunteers, but moderation is an extra step until we're sure you're human.

You are human, right?

Re: Normalisation and compression with two separate voice tr

Dueling posts. saving the resulting sound file as a WAV. Oh, so you're way further along than just beginner. Yes, the one downside of this process is needing each actor to be good at recording. There was a recent poster who wanted to know how to save one of the four sound tracks in his show. Eek! Ca...

Re: Normalisation and compression with two separate voice tr

Stop me anywhere if I pass something you miss. I'm going at full steam until I get a sense of how you're working. I sometimes use abbreviations that lose people. Are you doing all your work in Mono (one blue wave)? Unless there's a valid reason for stereo, mono is a really good idea. My podcast test...

Re: Normalisation and compression with two separate voice tr

By what method did you coordinate your show? Call each other on the phone, Skype? It's not recommended to record the Skype call. You can do that if you absolutely have to, but it usually doesn't come out very well. how best to do all of this when I've got myself and my co-podcaster recorded separate...

Re: convert mp3 audio to midi

It is Export Audio. That got changed some versions ago. Nobody could figure out how to make a sound file. The instructions in that web page have you going around the MetaData dialog screen. Not using it. You can even set Audacity to stop showing it to you at each export....which I can't find right t...

Re: Is it possible to insert in the end of the existing trac

You can semi-automate it. Import the second song so they're stacked top to bottom.

Tracks > Align Tracks: End To End.

I think that's the right option. That should push the second song to the end of the first one.

Audacity doesn't have Append-Import. It's a popular request.

Re: convert mp3 audio to midi

There is a freeware called amazingmidi, but its performance is just dismal. The originating MP3 must be close to perfect. The software has to be able to accurately find the beginning, middle and end of each and every note. The first time somebody plays two or three notes at once, you're dead. If th...
