Re: New user rules
We are something of a slave to the forum software and presets. "You" have to be moderated because of too many people trying to sell us things. Everybody starts out the same way; allowing everybody to post immediately and have an elf go in later and "clean it up." We spent most of...

Re: How to determine if L and R channels of a stereo track a
I ripped an audiobook from an audio CD to an MP3 First mistake. The sound on an Audio CD is perfect quality WAV, 16-bit, Stereo. You just added MP3 compression distortion to your rip for no good reason. This is a particular problem if you need to do post production. MP3 distortion gets worse at eve...

Re: Why Does My Recording Stop After 50 Seconds?
Just a note that DAT is famously unreliable. There's a standing semi-joke to always double record your shoot so you'll have something to go with when your DAT tape fails.Sony A7 DAT
Not if it fails.
So your playback may be normal.

Isn't that for Picture/Sound sync or "lip sync?" That doesn't give you an echo.

Re: Export Selected Audio greyed out after 2 uses per sessio
It happens with any long file It sounds like you do this all the time. Is your drive filling up? The video people have a symptom where "suddenly, everything acts weird for no apparent reason." If you have "satellite" or extension drives, any one of them filling up can cause insa...

Re: Move or cut less than 1/1000 sec from a clip?
I don't know whether this will definitely correct the problem But you can get a good idea by splitting the stereo show into independent tracks with the drop-down menu on the left. Mute one of the two tracks. I'm betting either track by itself is still going to have the echo effect. From your descri...

Audacity does not have IN and OUT edit points like you may be used to in video editors. It does have Labels.

Re: Changing Microphones
That's why I want to hear a "clean" test clip. The original microphone is clear about providing processing, so we have no idea at all where we are. That could be a Windows sound "Enhancement" effect.

Re: recording noise persists
I truly am sorry for "barging" into this topic/thread That's OK. It's forum housekeeping. We can deal with this. Audacity ver 2.x.x That's not OK. We need the real Audacity version numbers. In addition to the regular Audacity product versions, we also have to deal with third party version...

Re: AudioBook Mastering version 4
@Diver4242 The two provided sound samples will not play (for me) and they download severely damaged or empty. @steve It may indicate a much lower noise floor than the actual noise floor (it's a bug). Right. Is there a method of cross-checking the work if you encounter an apparent conflict? ACX Check...
