Re: Interviewing yourself / switching channels from one mic

Oddly, I can't think of a good way to do this with one pass in post production. Announce both sides at the same time. Straight run-through. Duplicate the track so you have two blue waves of the same thing. Apply effects, filters or corrections to one so it sounds enough different from the main voice...

Re: Interviewing yourself / switching channels from one mic

One thing that can really sell the effect is use two different microphones for the two performers and you can do it with one microphone. Directional microphones have proximity effect where your voice changes as you get closer and further away. I once played two different people by doing that and a l...

Re: Mic for phone recommendations

I've seen BBC news reporters with "dead baby kittens" on their Lavaliers There's a metaphor that doesn't gracefully extend. In bad WX, newsies here drag out the hand-held big guns with waterproof foam shields. Of course if your goal is to interview another human, that's pretty much the on...

You don't need the split. You already have two tracks.

Re: Duplicate track and delay 2nd track

No, but you can split the stereo track and add silence to the beginning of the bottom one. You can Generate > Silence down to digital sample accuracy if you want.

Re: Recording Online Troubles!

I can't make out what you're doing from the post. recording for my syndicated show. suddenly not record from online websites like YouTube? What are you doing in detail? Does this all boil down to "Audacity stopped recording from YouTube?" Adobe Flash player security update While I don't th...

Re: Difficulty creating files from projects

It sounds like the install is confused. Drag it to the trash. Get the Disk Image (dmg) for Audacity 2.1.3 from here. http://www.audacityteam.org/download/mac/ When it shows up on your desktop, double click it and it should open up into an installer. Drag the program graphic to the applications graph...

Re: Interviewing yourself / switching channels from one mic

You can use Overdubbing. Normally, you would record a backing track, maybe drums and bass and then play that back while you record the guitar and them play all that back while you sang.....etc. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_recording_multi_track_overdubs.html Audacity will pile up all ...

Re: worked until now, whats changed.

I have tried restarting my laptop. How? Shift-Shutdown, wait a bit and Start. Regular restart doesn't shut down and reset all services and settings. Apparently the mike is working correctly [ according to windows ] Windows will say the mic is OK as long as it can reach it and maybe transfer data. T...
