Re: ion turntable 132638

ION turntable model 132638 Post a link to the turntable. I couldn't find it. will i be able to use it with audacity to adjust my recording level? I'm guessing no. Analog connections are usually fixed even if the unit has volume controls for speaker or headphones. If it does have headphone connectio...

Re: Audacity instead of Levelator

Do you see where the Levelator blue waves have ruler-straight tops and bottoms? That's almost always distortion. Note the other two still have features on the tops and bottoms of the waves. That's not an accident. That's what makes it so you almost can't tell the program is doing anything. So contin...

Re: Sound quality of CD produced from vinyl recording

Do they still make ceramic cartridges? They were widely regarded as electronic garbage decades ago.
Your turntable has a built-in preamp (which works with the USB and the analog RCA outputs
Does it have a switch to take the RIAA in and out of the analog connection?

Re: Separating songs before burning to CD

I tried the method suggested, i.e. breaking into individual files, Right there it's something wrong. You're supposed to go through the vinyl capture track and place labels at each song start. When you File > Export Multiple, Audacity will break up one long track into individual songs for you at the...

Re: Audacity instead of Levelator

You could try Chris's Compressor. Chris wrote it to even out volume variations so he could listen to opera in the car. It's an Audacity plugin. https://theaudacitytopodcast.com/chriss-dynamic-compressor-plugin-for-audacity/ I listen to a radio show and started to download the podcast so I could list...

Re: Recorded Voice Only Playing on Left Channel

(my biggest mistake, I know) That depends. Did it sound OK and do what you wanted? There's a good chance if you have a quiet laptop and quiet room, the voice track could work OK. get the proper stereo effect? Do you want a stereo effect, or a good mono voice track? They're different. Use the drop-d...

Re: Mono files converting to stereo when imported

Which Audacity? Right click or control-click one of the files > Get INFO. Is it what you think it is? What's the sample rate? 48000? Create a 10 second test clip of any sound from one of those recorders (read the milk carton) and post it on the forum. Scroll down from a forum text-entry window > Upl...

Re: Sound quality of CD produced from vinyl recording

If this is a USB turntable, why are you going around the barn with the analog pathway? Just connect the USB cable and go.

Re: 432 Hz Conversion

Music isn't necessarily in the key of A That was picked as the tone the oboe in the orchestra can do. Everybody else plays their "A" and moves their own instrument around so it more or less matches. The key of the song doesn't matter. I wondered what would happen if the player dropped the...
