It's super unusual for pieces of Audacity to vanish. Which three-number Audacity do you have?

Run Activity Monitor. I have it in my dock. I don't remember where I got it from. Go > Utilities??

See which app or what process goes nuts when you get the SBBOD.

You get the SBBOD when the Mac takes longer than the expected time to complete a task. So Audacity didn't necessarily crash. It was just waiting for a process to complete. Did Audacity actually vanish by itself? Did you ever wait it out? Have you done any of the Usual Tricks? Shutdown and restart. D...

That's when it gets messy. You cut off about an inch of destroyed and fatigued cable and rebuild it—if there's enough connector left.

That's when normal people replace it.

which in the case of old church / cathedral organs may be a long way off A440. I'm not surprised. Those gold polished things facing front are pretty, but the lower tones are generated by pipes in the back that look like they were created from left-over packing crates. Doesn't anybody ever dust back...

Are the clicks there when you view the tape without the computer? It's not unheard of for the computer to be creating these noises during the transfer.

Actually, I'd be much more interested in hearing it. We can derive the pictures from that. Since it's stereo, select 10 seconds of work with noises in it and export WAV (Microsoft). Upload to the forum. Scroll down from a text entry window > Upload Attachment. You can export much longer segments if ...
