It's supposed to add new tracks as you go. Backing, voice, trumpet, violin. That lets you mess with the individual voices and instruments and then make a final mix when you're happy.
If you make a final mix in real time, you can't ever make a mistake.

Re: Audio drift and external sound cards
Do post back how this goes. This is one of the techniques we recommend for performers rather than trying to record a Skype transmission. Having sync problems is dead normal. Having moving ones is not.

Re: Audio drift and external sound cards
However. You should be able to make one "percent" correction no matter how long the show is. A "normal" error has the sample rate always .003 percent (for example) fast or slow. If you can get the segment's both ends to match and the middle is significantly out of sync, that's br...

Re: Issues with mic recognized but not recording in Audacity
I think this microphone takes 48 volt phantom power. Is that turned on?

Re: Issues with mic recognized but not recording in Audacity
That's one of the hero packages. If you have a quiet room, you should be able to do a terrific job. The headphones are plugged into the solo and Direct Monitor is switched on? Is the little USB light on? That should let you hear the microphone no matter what the computer is doing—as long as it's all...

45" vinyls 33-1/3 vinyl was designed for the highest possible quality for people who want to listen to opera and top quality Big Band. 45s were designed for kids to listen to Bill Haley and the Comets at maximum possible volume. RCA (designers of the format) produced 45-only players and you ge...

Re: Not able to record
You can tell if Audacity intends to make a recording by right-clicking inside the recording sound meters > Start Monitoring. If there's sound coming into Audacity, the meters will register. You don't have to go into record. I know you intend to record a mono voice track, but did you install the 2i2 ...

Re: A couple of questions
I'd like to have something recording while doing other things on my PC In a word, no. Audacity does not play well with others. Audio (and video) management is a little odd because there are no gaps or holes. It's continuous. It's not like calculating a spreadsheet where nobody can tell if the compu...

Re: Missing "Stereo to Mono" option
today it was just missing the "Stereo to mono" option. That's the only difference? [Stunned Look] I'm out. I've never heard of that. The desperation method is convert both tracks to mono with the tools in the drop-down menu on the left of each track (if they're not already). Select each t...
Re: Data File
There's a step in the middle where it saves an AUP file which is the Project Manager. Is there one? If you have a Mono Project with no editing at all in it, there is a possibility of recovery. Scroll down to Manual Recovery. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/recovery.html If this is the Edit Master...
