And just to be obsessive about this, better microphones can handle USB problems and you won’t need mosquito killer, and better environment may help with noise reduction which will make de-esser unnecessary.
Glad they accepted your work.

Re: Recording is very quiet PLEASE HELP
That's not the only way to do it. I own and like one of these. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/UM2usb It's a proper microphone amplifier, interface, USB connection and it will supply 48 volts. The voice does not go through the second class computer soundcard. As a side feature, it's one of t...

Re: How do get rid of the little scratching sound (volume)
I'm just guessing at the most likely cause of scratching noises in a performance. If your blue waves never go up (or down) to 1, then that's probably not it. The scratching appears to happen at random moments! Does it stay put once it happens? If you record a passage and it has crunching, does the n...

Re: Recording is very quiet PLEASE HELP
There is voltage at the computer soundcard connection intended for computer microphones, but it's only 5 volts, not 48 volts. That was intended for one of these (for example). http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/computerAnalogMicrophone-500.jpg Not a larger performance microphone. The instructions ar...

Re: Recording is very quiet PLEASE HELP
Quick note, I don't have one of these microphones, but if you connect it properly, I expect it to work. Depending on what you're doing, you may elect to send it back and start over. Give us an idea of your goals.

Re: Recording is very quiet PLEASE HELP
Consult the instructions where you bought the microphone. They may have a 48 volt phantom power adapter they recommend.

Re: Recording is very quiet PLEASE HELP
The instructions for the microphone say that it needs 48 volt phantom power to work perfectly. It is intended to plug into a sound mixer or any other device that will supply that voltage. This is the 48 volt switch on a Peavey (for example) sound mixer. Screen Shot 2017-10-27 at 21.24.22.png The ins...

Re: Levelling out track amplification for a 1 hour Podcast.
Do you have access to the individual voices? If you do, you can use the AudioBook Mastering process. That's where RMS Normalize originated. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=96103 The job of the mastering suite is to level out volume variations and put the presentation volume ex...

Re: Slight echo - maybe a setting? Help with podcast
hope we can try spreaker and audacity at the same time That's the one where everybody calls into Spreaker and they make the mix and recording, right? I don't see why it wouldn't work. Audacity will record your voice which is a service of the computer and available. Headphones mandatory. Totally do ...

I’m on windows 10 btw It can't be "by the way." We need the Windows version, the Audacity numbered version, the microphone type and model number and how you have it connected to your computer and what the computer is. We have to build your system in our heads and we need enough good quali...
