Re: Removing camera sound / better noise reduction

First step to Hollywood
Bring strong coffee. It's called "Looping" where a short segment of video (film) is presented over and over and the actor presents the lines repeatedly getting closer and closer to picture sync each pass.

Next loop.

It's not the most fun you can have.

Re: recorded audio not opening

Audacity doesn't save sound files. It saves Projects. This is a Project. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MyMusicAUP-MyMusic_DATA.jpg The AUP file is all the instructions Audacity uses to put your show together from all that stuff in the _DATA folder. The little AUs are six seconds long. The ...

Your Personal Edit Master Export should be a perfect quality WAV (Microsoft) 16-bit. The copy for ACX needs to be MP3, constant bitrate, at least 192 quality, as it says in their postings. The WAV is needed because once you create the MP3 for them, you can't edit or change it . If you do edit and ex...

No, but you might do it in 25 or 50 track chunks instead of all at once.

Re: Out of memory when working with many tracks.

Audacity doesn't use plain ordinary file formats. It uses 32-floating at 44100, assuming you used 44100 sampling rate. This is to avoid accidental overload and clipping problems. Internally, Audacity doesn't clip. Audacity gets some UNDO by periodically saving fresh copies of The Whole Show. So it m...

Missed one. Analyze > Contrast > Measure Selection will give you the RMS values.

Re: Getting precise dB level from Playback meter reading

Root Mean Square. Area under the curve. In power systems, this is the ability to perform work—make a motor go 'round. Somebody figured out that the RMS of a sound signal happened to correspond roughly to loudness. That gives you: "You failed your audiobook test because your RMS wasn't high enou...

So I was going to add words to the beginning of that segment just so I could make it flow better Actually, that was one of the odd-duck technical problems. You can't have too much silence, either. The RMS (loudness) audiobook specification is an overall average of all the spoken words. So putting t...

Audacity 3 is coming, but I understood that 2.4.2 would work. Did you get your Audacity from here?

Another MP3 catch. Not all players support Variable Bit Rate, one of the Audacity export options. Use Constant Bit Rate for distribution.
