Re: cant convert to 16bit
Audacity has no Clip INFO , so if you're used to that in a video editor, that's life. Audacity works internally at 32-bit Floating, so no matter how the files show up, that's how Audacity edits them. File > Export: WAV (Microsoft) 16-bit . That will give you a real file that should open OK in your s...

Re: Stereo Mix playback problem
Stereo Mix is an unnatural configuration where the computer's playback service (YouTube Music) is intentionally turned around and fed back down the Record side of the computer so Audacity can grab it. Make sure the playback system listed in Audacity is a real hardware device, not a "fake" ...

Re: Newbie - Ending track suddenly or with echo
The drop sounds interesting If you mean stop dead and start up again with little or no gap, yes. I've heard DJs do that when there's just no hope of gracefully smooshing them together with a crossfade. Generally at last call. Time to wind down the audience. Sometimes you have to leave enough gap so...

Re: Recording Levels are only good at .01
I should mention the output from the pre amp is USB. Yes you should. That's a different set of conditions. Some Windows machines automatically assign a "Microphone Boost" (20dB) to a capture performance. That would account for your difference. Consult your Windows settings. Audacity gets ...

Audacity 2.2.0 released -- Where to post Erratum?
Mature Mac with OS-X 10.9.5. I make copies of all DMG installers in a folder called Installers-Keys-Settings . Screen Shot 2017-11-02 at 19.03.44.png 2.1.3 will install from right there. 2.2.0 insists on being moved to the desktop and then installing. If I don't move it, I get an error message. Scre...

Re: Additional mp3 file created when saving over old mp3 fil
Are there any conditions where you export and you have made no changes? What is a typical filename that failed? Audacity 2.1.0 hasn't been current for a while. Has it been doing it all that time? This may be one of the oddball things that got cured in 2.1.1, 2.1.2 or 2.1.3. I would upgrade...althoug...

Re: Loud distortion on each and every track, please help :)
Audacity doesn't apply effects, filters or corrections during recording. If you have recorded distortion is probably coming from Windows.

Re: Steinberg UR-22 with audacity
There's four obvious decisions for headphones. -- Are they physically comfortable? Koss Pro4AA are wonderful headphones, but they're hot and they weigh as much as a Land Rover. They're recognized as a personal defense weapon by the State of California. -- Are they isolated? You should have a firm fo...
