Re: How to achieve -23 to -18 after normalizing?
Aaaaaand. We're done. I applied the mastering suite just as it appears in the paper. See first three readings and sentence 2/3 down. Screen Shot 2017-11-05 at 17.44.42.png Being obsessive, I did apply very gentle noise reduction of the beast (6, 6, 6) and DeEsser at the default values. I'll post tho...

Re: How to achieve -23 to -18 after normalizing?
It's too noisy, but I'm not going to go digging for it. You're doing the recording wrong. Forget the headphones for a minute. Set yourself up for a recording and change the Yeti recording volumes and your head spacing until the Audacity recording meters tip occasionally into -10dB to -6dB. http://ww...

Re: Stereo Mix Recording Computer Audio Question
Stereo Mix on an older computer used to send the sound all the way out to the analog service in the soundcard, turn it around and bring it back in, so you got the combined distortion of both sides of the sound card in addition to volume problems (I can make a good recording, but the speaker volume i...

Re: How to achieve -23 to -18 after normalizing?
Step one: Stop tearing. We published a suite of tools to get you past ACX Automated Quality Control (the Robot). http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=96103 It requires some extra downloaded tools and installs, so you need to be comfortable with that. The tools depend on each other,...

Re: Mic Input Levels Changing Constantly
Try this.
Just establish a normal Skype connection but don't use Audacity. Leave it closed.
Open Apple > System Preferences > Sound > Input and watch the motion of the slider as you talk.

Re: Mic Input Levels Changing Constantly
Mac doesn't need a driver. No, it doesn't. The real question is did you try to install a driver anyway? If you install a USB audio device, the input volume controls on both Apple > System Preferences > Audio > Input and the Audacity input volume control should go all the way up and stay there. If y...

Re: Mic Input Levels Changing Constantly
I see what happened. You lost the continuity of the forum tags. It looks like you didn't post anything.
I'll see if I can figure out the format.
