Re: How to make your voice like this? (Presumably helmet-rad
I was going to go to my "Communications Radio" crushed voice effect, but I think that one's more like a dual-pitch effect (I'm not at home, so I can't do a good job listening). Duplicate the voice track (Control-D, Windows) and apply Effect > Change Pitch to only one track. Change the volu...

Re: Audacity Recordings are Done at High Speed
Effect > Change Speed. Convert the 0.6 second clip to ten seconds and it appears to be close to the right rhythm and meter (attached). But there's a lot of other junk in there and there is no convenient sampling rate change that can account for the change. Wild-eye, blue sky observation: This is wha...

Re: Audacity Recordings are Done at High Speed
I doubt the external equipment is the issue So do I, but as nobody has been able to turn up the problem so far, we need to look in an expanding ring of possibilities. Beware of microscopic misdirection. Concentrate so hard on the problem you miss other valuable information. AKA the 10,000 foot view...

Re: Mic Input Levels Changing Constantly
This is how mine turned out. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/DenisePodcastMoreHeavilyCut3.mp3 Remember this is an engineering test, not a production final. Denise is four time zones away. The joke is we created the perfect podcast. We spent the whole thing discussing when to have the next podca...

Re: Error while opening sound device
I have to unplug and replug the 2i2 I don't have a 2i2, so I can't give you hands-on "trick" diagnostics like I can with other equipment. The behavior seems most unusual. The earlier Windows machines had audio control panels which had to connect to the device before Audacity sees it. Dril...

That's this one?
http://isse.sourceforge.net/
I see it as fractional version number, alpha release, so beware of odd behavior, crashes and unresolved bugs. Also, it downloads as a Windows Executable (.exe) file, so back up your machine and make sure your virus software is up to date.

Re: distortion / noise in EVERY wave-file after export
Is that the dither signal? Audacity has to add a dither signal so the conversion from 32 floating to 16 bit doesn’t create audible errors.
Most people can’t hear very much that high and it’s a very low level.
You can turn it off in preferences.

Re: Mic Input Levels Changing Constantly
I did it with two machines. Let Skype flog one and you record on the other. I also had two Macs with Stereo line inputs and a small mixer, but you don't actually need all that. I live-mixed theme music and did other production in real time, so all I really needed was the Skype machine, a sound recor...
