Re: How to remove car beeps from a recording?
There was another posting of someone who went back to her open-plan office after hours when they turned off the air conditioning and noisy lights. That was terrifically inconvenient, but it did work. You can use sound proofing in a small room, or a good quality microphone close-up in a very large ro...

Re: How to remove car beeps from a recording?
I noticed the same thing when I did a microphone test on my iPod. I have a quiet third bedroom, but I still had to wait for metrobusses to finish going by. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/iPod-MicStand-500.jpg There are two postings from people who turned their coat closets into recording studios...

Re: How to remove White Noise?
if it's a noise inherent in the microphone itself is there really anything I can do about it? That's misleading. It's a slightly sloppy microphone connected to a slightly sloppy USB system. Your microphone and computer hate each other. I understand the Yeti Pro, at substantially higher cost, doesn'...

Re: Testing Noise Floor for ACX
To specifically answer you, the classic way to measure noise before all the fancy-pants tools was with Contrast. Drag-select a portion of noise-only performance. Analyze > Contrast > Measure Selection (write it down) > Close. I wrote up all the older things you needed to do to prove ACX compliance a...

Re: Testing Noise Floor for ACX
That's one in a series of tools and processes we wrote for Audiobook Production. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=96103 There is an error since the release of Audacity 2.2.0. You can't select the whole track by clicking above MUTE. That graphic doesn't exist any more. You click...

And we might get this out of the way ahead of time. If your sound is honky, wine-glassy or fades in and out, you may need to turn off Windows' built-in conferencing or voice processing.

Re: Picking up room sound, not from cassette???
You have to make sure the USB Player is selected for Audacity recording. If you do that wrong, the machine will default to the built-in microphone which will pick up the whole room. You can get craziness right here if you're not careful. Plug in the player and let Windows get used to it and only the...

Re: USB CONDENSER MIC
That would be this? https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PS400 That should do it. Do you have a tripod or other mic stand? Apparently it comes with a desk stand? Three items: -- It didn't say so, but apparently, it doesn't have a filter for desk vibrations. That's not deadly. If you find yourself...

Re: Corrupt file from ZOOM h4n after battery died
Audacity has that Open Raw thing where you can tune manually how the work is opened. It doesn't need the file headers and other fancy file info. You can analyze an older, successful file to see what's supposed to be there, and then tell Audacity what to expect when it opens the damage. Screen Shot 2...
