Re: Audacity froze, i can't record, i can't close it ...

I feel it didn't crash because I can still navigate the menus, but all options are grayed
Are you in Pause? Press the P key and see if everything comes back to life.

Re: Reverb Effect when recording

Edit > Preferences > Recording. Make sure Overdubbing is the only thing selected.

You should be listening to the UCA-202 with your headphones and the Monitor switch on. That's the only way to hear yourself in real time without the echoes.

Re: importing music from itunes library

Some iTunes music is not available for production. Drag the music from iTunes onto the desktop. If it succeeds, then open it in Audacity.

Re: USB CONDENSER MIC

The mic and stand was cheaper than just the microphone? I guess it's possible the store gets it that way from the supplier...... I keep seeing somebody selling microphones from the back of his car. Just a stand, or a stand with a boom? The boom is the hero accessory. That lets you suspend the microp...

Re: A question about Audacity's suitabliity

That's pretty much what this is. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PhaseReversingMics.jpg Those are two electrically identical microphones with a "Y" cable. The sound mixer is on the top. One of the microphones is phase cancelling "backwards." That's the extra "X" tube...

Re: Why does noise reduction use noise gating rather than so

Can I read into your question you're trying to record a performance in a noisy room or with a noisy microphone and you want us to fix it? There are still noises insanely difficult to fix. We can't touch moving or changing noises without the show starting to sound like a bad cellphone. That's why lea...

Re: Why does noise reduction use noise gating rather than so

Look at microphone pink noise (ffffff). That contains more or less all frequencies since it's caused by the molecular movement of the microphone electronics. You would have us remove all frequencies from the show, right? This is a vast improvement over the older Noise Removal which used to do actual...

Re: Audacity crashes during .Mp3 import.

There are possible magic problems. If you have a very aggressive virus protection program, it could be "helping" protect you against all those evil sound programs. You keep saying "Open," but Audacity "Imports" MP3s and other sound files. Are you doing File > Import > A...

Re: Two (or more) bugs

I've thought that at least writing this up in a forum would help future users and perhaps someone will get a lightbulb moment and know how to fix some of this. That works. You've been very thorough in your description. Easy access to the developers is discouraged because there are a great many inst...

Re: Bit perfect editing

There are recording apps that skip silences automatically. I have just downloaded one of these, and if it works well I will be using it from now on. How would you know? Let me read this back to you. If the software fails to record me reliably at night, I'll know not to use it any more. Silent Sense...
