Re: What's Wrong Here..?

Do you see those little green bars on the right of your control panel? Do they change color when you play music into the UCM22?

Re: I need help to record skype calls

even though Audacity is only able to record one side of the conversation, at least the quality will be good. Yes, but unfortunately, the side is the interviewer, not the guest. Audacity gets the local microphone as a service of the local computer and thus is relatively reliable. The guest voice is ...

Re: Cannot overdub, getting latency error

No change in config, and it works as it should. That means it's waiting for the worst possible time to fail. There is a technique to find problems like this. You stress the machine and cause it to fail. Every so often in a troubleshooting forum thread, I'll ask someone if they can make the problem ...

Re: Retrieving deleted project

We should wait for one of the heavier system elves. I'm not sure which action causes Audacity to scrub its old work. When Audacity is working, it uses vast quantities of memory, so it takes the earliest possible opportunity to release it to other jobs—normally a good thing.

Re: Looking for help removing static from interview recordin

Recording a phone conversation is not for the easily frightened. Did you try to connect this adapter into the MIC-IN of a laptop computer? That's where the distortion came from. The volume from the adapter would be very seriously too loud for that connection. You can try to reduce the volume by some...

Select the whole show by clicking in the lower-right of the track INFO panel.

Effect > Amplify > New peak: -2dB.

Effect > Low Pass Filter: 4000Hz, 36dB.

Re: Looking for help removing static from interview recordin

I can help a little by shearing off all the stab-you-in-the-ear-with-an-ice-pick tones. The test clip is your work for the first ten and my patch for the remainder. Let us know if that's enough. Once you overload or "clip" the work, the recorder stops following the show and starts making u...

Edit > UNDO.

If you didn't close Audacity, the original show should still be back there.

Re: Inconsistent latency --> automatic track shift woes

The default click track has three identical clicks and one counter click. What's that, a fox-trot? Is it possible you're aligning to the wrong clicks? Oddly, it's better to sneak up on proper alignment rather than hit it first time out. That lets you listen to the one that's almost right and hear th...

Re: Inconsistent latency --> automatic track shift woes

OK, so you produce a click track and play that back in overdubbing. Laptop Speakers and Internal Microphone. You inspect both tracks, measure the difference between the two sets of clicks and add that correction to what's already in latency correction. Do another recording. Then play the composite t...
