Re: long length recordings

You can retire the tapes, but I wouldn't throw them out. Digital copies are more brittle than you think. I keep valuable work on two different storage systems. The tape can be one of the two.

Re: long length recordings

I did was use my Hi-Fi Beta and VHS recorders for audio taping with the revolving head where slow speed has little effect on sound quality. Because the sound doesn't only go on the sound track, it also goes on an FM subcarrier buried in the video. VHS HiFi was one of the best things to happen to th...

Re: Newbie really basic question

On another forum some folks were poo-pooing using a USB mic Me, too, but not for the reasons you think. If everything goes OK, you can use a nice USB microphone and thousands of people do. There are also people who arrive on the forum not getting their USB microphone to work right. The Blue Yeti is...

Re: I still can't get Audacity to record only computer sound

http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_recording_computer_playback_on_windows.html Audacity doesn't care where it gets the sound from as long as Windows (or the operating system) provides it. Back in the paleolithic, you could pick "Stereo Mix" as a recording "device" and it...

Re: AudioBook Mastering version 4

THIS clip passes, but other sections of my recording fail. One of Human Quality Control's requirements is that voice quality of all your chapters and segments match. Once you apply a correction anywhere (Noise Reduction), you need to apply it to each chapter forever. This is why people go to some e...

Re: AudioBook Mastering version 4

Post a 20 second sound test on the forum according to this formula. Try to hit it around 18 to 20 seconds. Some posters recorded just "Hello" and stopped. That's not long enough for us to tell what's going on. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/TestClip/Record_A_Clip.html Do Not Change Any...

Re: Newbie really basic question

That's basic overdubbing. Play a backing track into your headphones and record a second track, and then a third, etc. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_recording_multi_track_overdubs.html The tutorial is in two major blocks. There's "Perfect Overdubbing" where you can hear yourse...
