Re: Help Balancing Levels!! ACX
Forget Audacity for a minute. The microphone is side-fire. You should be speaking into the side grill just up from the company name. If you look on the back of the microphone, it's labeled "Back." On the Solo, turn AIR off. Turn 48V on Turn GAIN 2 all the way down. Turn Gain 1 all the way ...

Re: The strangest issue I've ever seen
Discord. Do you have more than one service? Zoom and Skype? They all can leave services behind even when they're shut down. Do you get different results after you clean shutdown Windows? Shift+Shutdown, then Start, and don't let anything else start. Doesn't have to fix it. If that changes the sympto...

Re: The strangest issue I've ever seen
unplug / plug in my microphone. And it doesn't actually fix it. It just postpones the damage until next time. I think that step is the teller. Multiple different services are fighting to use the microphone. They're running at different sampling rates and one wins. When you unplug the microphone, th...

Re: Audio Delay when monitoring/recording. Tried ALL the fixes
There is a section in the overdubbing tutorial before you start pushing custom audio pathways around where you make a simple playback and a simple recording. If you can't do that without throwing wires around and changing settings, overdubbing is going to be a very serious challenge. And yes, as abo...

he lives in Los Angeles It's easy to forget that the forum is active over 9 time zones. So when it's noon in Stuttgart..... I was catching a few early morning waves off Docweiler Beach. Not surfing or anything, just watching them from a respectful distance. It doesn't say so in the instructions, bu...

Re: Voice Recording is unclear - need to isolate main voice
I like this picture because it has one of everything. Stand-Alone Sound Recorders, Voice Recorders, Hand-Held Microphones, Smart Phones, Boom Shotguns, Built-in Camcorder Mics, etc. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/ConorLamb-w-All_Microphones.jpg That's what you do to get good clean voice. No...

Re: Voice Recording is unclear - need to isolate main voice
Make sure you have a protection copy of the work in case the computer does something funny. Effect > Filter Curve > Manage > Factory Presets > Telephone > OK. That will strip off all the voice tones except the ones you need to make out the words. The down side is it will make your presentation sound...

Re: Rode NT-USB Low Gain
You can also fudge a little. Instead of speaking directly into the microphone, push it to one side and get closer This is "oblique" positioning. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/ObliquePlacement4.png "B" can easily double your voice volume without increasing P-Popping and ...

R and Shift+R also reverse. One does one and one does the other.

I'm starting with an acapella project That's the problem. There aren't enough instruments in the song. Record a New Track and Tack Onto The Old One option is a setting. Audacity (upper menu bar) > Preferences > Recording > Options > [X]Record on a new track. The older Audacity used to always record...
