There is no "crying" and "vocals." There's a lot of human voices smashed together. Audacity has no way to split them apart. The only way you recognize the difference is because you're human. The computer has no clue.

Re: Installing ACX CHECK PLUG-IN
When you get to the right display, Shift-Command-4 will turn the cursor into a little cross-hair. Draw a box around your graphic. The system should give you a time and date "png" graphic on the desktop.

Re: Opposite of Inversion?
Phase Inversion tricks come with an awkward "feature." They appear that you should be able to work the trick backwards...and you generally can't. The only two pre-packaged Audacity tricks are Effect > Vocal Remover and Effect > Vocal Reduction and Isolation. http://manual.audacityteam.org/...

Re: HELP
Maybe not in Audacity. Audacity has no tools to manage constantly changing noises. We do OK with constant noises like computer fans, microphone hiss and air conditioner noises, but you hit one we can't easily deal with. You have a double whammy in that you're also trying to split human voices apart ...

Re: Off and running, but what audio format to save in?
Seems to me then that I am veering towards storing the 'source' final edited files in WAV format and then consider transcoding them to whatever format I need depending on the 'destination' - is that sounding sensible? Perfectly. That's how I shoot and deliver work to a client. although thinking abo...

Re: ACX basics and Audacity Effects

Re: Noise reduction in real time
If you're in Windows, you can get Windows processing to help you in real time. Normally, this processing gets in the way of home recording because it doesn't like music very much and we tell people how to turn it off, but you may be the poster child for using it. It's designed to accept speaking voi...

Re: ACX basics and Audacity Effects
Home performers nearly always miss ACX conformance when they record low volume with either a poor microphone or a noisy environment (or both). Record a short test and post it here on the forum. The content isn't important, read the milk carton, but do it in your normal performing style and Do Not ap...
