Re: Constant static/line noise
Has the performer read before? There are several nasty things that can happen to first time readers. They hate the sound of their voice. "Is that really me? Is the microphone broken?" The first book of any size is the class on theatrical reading. You can struggle to the end over days and t...

Re: Distorted Recording
Yes. Recording into a wine glass?
Chances are terrific you're using Windows automatic processing instead of sending your work straight through for recording.

Are you singing? Windows processing hates music.

Re: Constant static/line noise
there's no Fast Track mike to select Where did you do that? You have to enable the microphone in Windows (and see the little sound meter jumping) and then, after that is working, open Audacity and look for it there. If you launch Audacity before you plug the microphone in or Windows recognizes it, ...

Re: No "Mono" option for each track
I got burned with that a bit ago. Assume you got past the point where you Effect > Invert one track?? Top track dropdown > Make Stereo Track. Tracks > Mix > Mix Down To Mono. Or. In Audacity 2.2.1, there's Vocal Reduction and Isolation. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/vocal_reduction_and_isolatio...

Re: After Recording to Audacity, quality is awful.
We got that, but that's totally not normal, so we need you to do experiments while it's still broken, before you export it.The problem goes away after the file is exported.
Go back over that list. Does a muffled track clear up if you disconnect the snowball? Use earphones, etc.

Re: can't get rid of dc offeset on wav file.
The supplied sample sound file has a very serious DC offset but a more-or-less simple sound wave. I'm betting this sound file started out life with 100% DC offset and in its native state goes between ground and 5 volts. This is the problem with forum diagnostics following a poster's failed correctio...

Re: Adjusting Recording Volume
There is probably something else going on. A simple turntable connection will not be loud enough to create problems with a UCA222. Are you recording from your music sound system? Do you have a USB all-in-one turntable?

Re: How to nudge an audio track segment earlier or later
The desperation method has you magnifying the tracks repeatedly until Samples show on the timeline. In the example, I moved one track three digital samples later than the other with the Time Shift Tool.

Re: Normalize bug?
Well, yes, it's processing them separately, but is it doing that to a common goal? For example, if there is one very high peak only on the Left, does it reduce both Left and Right the same amount to resolve the correction? I think it does. Running Normalize the other way, separately, would change Le...

Re: can't get rid of dc offeset on wav file.
You may also find a manufacturing shortcut. Nobody is interested in paying for a perfect alarm-clock sound when thumping and non eee-eee sounds in the tone generator will never make it past the tiny clock speaker. You have what happens when you carefully lift that sound into a formal sound system wh...
