Re: Recording Issues
You may have found an "Undocumented Feature." In responding to the seemingly thousands of people who were horrified when pressing Record a second time starts a new track, that behavior is settable now in Preferences > Recording. However. I made two recordings in "Start Track mode,&quo...

Re: RMS Normalize
I did a graphic of the compression effect. No Processing (raw capture), Default Chris at 0.5 and my version at 0.77. The waveforms get denser and the difference between high peaks and overall average starts going away. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/ChrisCompressorBeforeandTwoAfters.png Chris de...

Re: RMS Normalize
If you hit clipping while working in Audacity, then you still have fresh bread That's why it is recommended you announce live or present with occasional peaks at -10dB to -6dB, so you don't unintentionally overload before you ever have the chance to correct the errors. Once you're inside Audacity, ...

Re: RMS Normalize
There was one odd thing that Chris does. I found the comments. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=332784#p332784 I process podcast versions of radio shows and I never ran into this problem. It's a look-ahead compressor, so if it doesn't find anything when it looks ahead, it behaves oddly....

The turntable (which apparently hasn't been made since 1995) has an internal phono preamp. What documents I could find don't say anything about adjusting it ...

Re: RMS Normalize
RMS Normalize ... tends to push tracks into clipping. Correct. That's why you follow that with Effect > Limiter like it says in the mastering document. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=96103 You don't have to limit at -3.5dB. That's just the audiobook standard. And to keep RMS...

Re: Constant static/line noise
reads the books off the laptop from an organization called EasyBooks on their software so it has to be in front of her. Can you sense the stormclouds? The EasyBooks hot keys can't conflict with the Audacity hot keys. Audacity does not play well with others to quote the grade school report card. Do ...
Re: 3D sound?
I'm with him. How did you connect the preamp, and what is it?
The symptoms suggest you're not sending Right to the preamp.
