Re: Slow work.

Have you started using Cloud Services? You may find that those like to do heavy processing in the background and not tell you. Do you have a browser running? It's not unusual for FireFox to slowly fill up your machine with client services. Firefox 50%, Firefox Web Services 125%. New machines are a l...

Re: Podcast setup with 4 microphones and Skype

we can listen via skype Skype takes over the sound services of the computer running it—and it doesn't ask. That's what's so darn much fun with throwing Skype in the mix. It's not entirely evil. That's why Skype always works no matter how messed up your computer is. It's not using your sound adjustm...

Re: Podcast setup with 4 microphones and Skype

Audacity will record multi-channel. You should know Audacity gets its sound from Windows, not the device, so you should have a multi-channel device driver in and working before you even launch Audacity. There's a posting collection for multi-track recording. Not all the devices work right. http://fo...

Dueling posts. You should occasionally wait for the time zones to catch up.

Re: Podcast setup with 4 microphones and Skype

There is a desperation method I bet you didn't think of. Everybody is always on Skype. You have one computer recording Skype at all times but has no microphone. It's a silent sixth partner. Guests can call in if they want and Skype takes care of all the sound management. I did that at work for a whi...

Re: Podcast setup with 4 microphones and Skype

I cant believe its been so hard to get this figured out Because it's impossible? Audacity is not recommended for recording Skype, Chat, Conferencing or Game Commentary. I can probably force that show to work, but I'd be using a talented sound mixing console rather than a handy mixing device. http:/...

Re: Easiest way to copy L channel to R channel in stereo tra

There are more complicated ways to do it, but two-track mono (which is what the same thing on left and right is called, is wasteful and not required. If your job expands, if you decide you're going to add stereo effects and delay enhancements, then yes, you'll need actual stereo. Split Stereo to Mon...

Use the drop-down menu on the left > Split Stereo to Mono. Delete the dead track.

Re: Audacity settings and effects resetting to default

I don't know where to go with your files and folders seemingly resetting themselves. I would be peeling the system(s) back to plain, non-enhanced computer until I found the problems, checking everything as I went. When was the last time you did a manual Windows DeFrag? Do you leave it running and al...

Re: Audacity settings and effects resetting to default

@ericb7799 Back to the original question. I'm not sure where to go with this other than holler for the senior elves to help out. As a tangential side-issue (the best kind) I had been using a security and ad blocker which became non-useful at the last FireFox update. The machine became a slow, unresp...
