Re: Can't open a file; can I reverse-engineer the MP3?
There are ways to edit MP3 without taking them apart. I guess it's possible to record your correction (itself a juggling act to get them to match) and then use one of the Pure MP3 editors to jam them together. Scroll down to Other MP3 Editing Tools. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/MP3#re-encode Th...

Re: Can't open a file; can I reverse-engineer the MP3?
is there a way to reverse-engineer it You can open the MP3 file in Audacity, correct it and Export it to anything else you want. However. The MP3 compression distortion is burned in and if you make a new MP3, the compression distortion will get worse. If you intentionally saved the work as a tiny f...

Re: Can't Save Project
You can sometimes get that effect if you use punctuation marks in the filename. Try calling the show something with upper case letters, lower case letters and numbers only.

Re: version 2.3
Did I miss a step? The current issue of Audacity is 2.2.1. Where did you get 2.3 from? If you didn't get it from an official source, you may have an odd Audacity offshoot that others may not have. Also, the current supported Windows is 10, not 7, further reducing the number and variety of users. Wel...

Re: Recording Volume drifting to maxium
How do I love the recording volume completely? I would do it behind closed doors out of sight of the children. Windows computers are not generic do-everything computers as they used to be. They come out of the box all set to connect to a corporate conference or other business communication or chat....

Re: Having issues with recording and playback
Is there a driver or other software product associated with the headset? Whatever you do in Windows 10 has to say "Windows 10." Win10 is enough of a change from earlier systems that it takes purpose-made drives and interfaces. If you use older drivers or software, the system may not stiffe...

We're not Developers, or at least I'm not. We're just elves who help out on the forum if we're not too busy mending shoes.
Sometimes the poster is too close to the problem. Why are you there? What is your job? Are you recording Victrola Records to MP3? Live recording your zither solos?

Re: render spectograms in jpeg or png
PNG is a loss-less format. JPEG is lossy. It throws away some picture information to get small files. For one simple example, If you have a sky all the same color blue, you only need three digital numbers. Which blue, upper left and lower right locations. That's a stunning reduction in data. Lossy c...
