Re: USB connected mic to Audacity for MAC

So much. You HAVE been a ray of sunshine! That's me. An ROS® a friend of mine suggested trying a powered hub. Correct. We sometimes tell people that if there is some doubt the computer USB service isn't up to running the microphone. We stopped doing that in most cases because it's possible to buy a...

Re: stereo recording using Behringer Q502USB does not work

The obvious one is to make sure Audacity is set to stereo next to the microphone symbol in the main work window. The not-so obvious one is to make sure Windows is set for stereo. You do that in the Windows control panels. Start (lower left) > Control Panels > Sound > Input (from fuzzy memory)? Koz

Re: Creating SFX while previewing video clip

No, and you didn't mention the next obvious problem. You'll need a video editor to put your finished work back into the video. Audacity can play and edit many video formats—more with the FFMpeg add-on, but it will only produce a stand-alone sound file when you get done.

Re: USB connected mic to Audacity for MAC

I just recorded and sent off with noise reduction and amplify. Wait. Sent what to whom? You're intended to record one of those standard sound tests and post it on the forum so we can tell you how to fix it for the client. There is, in fact, a volume dial on the side of the mic as well. Correct. Tha...

Re: ACX check freezing

Open the file in Audacity. Make sure you're looking at the whole thing, Control-F. Drag-select only the first 3/4 of it.

Analyze > ACX-Check > OK.

Still crash?

Re: Not able to record with headphone/mic combo jack.

That white device is listed as a "Stereo USB SoundCard," but it really only duplicates the two natural connections in a Windows laptop. Stereo Headphones and Mono Microphone . The illustration is adapting my special purpose mono telephone recorder microphone to a laptop that had no Microph...

Re: dB Waves

The fake graphic only has the positive-going waves because I wasn't up to Photoshopping all the values between the two zero points. That and I think -24 is actually in the wrong place. It's a free-hand illustration. I did discover one dependency. Generate > Tone is in Percent. Others may be, too. &q...

I'm out.

You have a mystery problem on a Windows machine. One of the Windows elves may need to drop in.

Re: USB connected mic to Audacity for MAC

I have the instruction book. Do you have the little green light on the microphone? That's the assurance your USB is OK. There are no presentation volume controls on the microphone. The only control is headphone volume. There is a volume control in Mac System Preferences Setup. Can you make that Inpu...

Re: USB connected mic to Audacity for MAC

If I haven't been enough of a ray of sunshine, once we do get the volumes settled, you will then have to deal with other "normal" sound problems. Yes, we can hear the refrigerator on the first floor, the MetroBus going by outside, and if you were on a Windows machine, the laptop cooling fa...
