Re: Adjusting signal-to-noise ratio for a speech in noise ex

Is this not an accurate measure of SNR?
It's a relative measurement. The new work is 3dB lower or higher than the old (for example). From my reading of your post, there's still no good way to tell from what.

Without that, nobody can replicate your results.

Re: USB connected mic to Audacity for MAC

I posted for help in the senior elf portion of the forum about the mouth noises.

This is where you need to know the forum covers nine time zones and it's 3:30a in Manchester. So if you're in the US, the snappy response may take a hit.

Re: USB connected mic to Audacity for MAC

Mixed success. I got the performance to pass with much less fuss than before. Your voice is cleaner with fewer distortions (attached). First three lines and sentence 2/3 down. Screen Shot 2018-01-18 at 18.29.17.png This is an incomplete list of the corrections. It's not step by step. I'll do that la...

Re: USB connected mic to Audacity for MAC

In reality, that was me standing at a very busy intersection. Most of the thumping is unintentional. That was a breeze I hadn't counted on in my "extensive" planning. That's why you never, ever blow into a microphone. It drives them nuts, and if they go too nuts, they can stop working. For...

Re: USB connected mic to Audacity for MAC

Apparently, I pulled the April Fool stories down.

This is one of the sound files from that series. We determine that's a Harley Motorcycle.

Tell me you couldn't use software which does that.

Re: Moving AUP between operating systems and more

Do you have any safety copies of the work or any Unique Projects saved in a safe place? How would you feel if Audacity went face-first into the mud and took your show with it right now?

At least have copies of all the work and individual sound files that went into the show.

Re: Moving AUP between operating systems and more

If I understand this... Shift-Click just right of the UP button on each track you want to move. They should all highlight. Pick the Time Shift Tool, click on any one of them and push. (Scroll down or click on the forum graphic). Screen Shot 2018-01-17 at 21.49.42.png I moved all of them, two, three,...

Re: intermittent background noise

I often get an intermittent background noise
You gotta know the first thing we're going to ask you is to post a sample of the noise. I hope you didn't throw them all out.

Regardless of the instruction options, post WAV format.

If you're truly in the Sound Pressure Level world, you will need an actual SPL meter. There is no good way to measure SPL with Audacity and whatever Audacity generates will depend on the amplifier and speaker system to convert to moving air.

Re: Adjusting signal-to-noise ratio for a speech in noise ex

Is there a way to automatically adjust the SNR by entering the desired outcome somewhere? This may be harder than you think. Most of the volume control tools in Audacity work on peak values. For example, if you Effect > Amplify and leave the settings alone, it will change the waveform peak values t...
