How many things do you have selected?
Do you use Zoom, Skype, or any other chat or conference software? Have you ever tried to record a Zoom meeting? Is Zoom running in the background right now?

Re: Help. Little tics around 6000-8000Hz. Not mouth noises
From memory, one paper towel roll wasn't high enough, so I used three bathroom rolls instead. You can wear your engineering hat for a minute. The rolls put the microphone at appropriate height, they're acoustically dead and they don't transfer vibration from the desk. I also used oblique positioning...

The accessory package comes with a wall power supply. Screen Shot 2021-03-07 at 07.15.45.png Mine came with no memory chip and I contacted the company and complained loudly about that. "The recorder comes out of the box unusable!!" I know this unit used to come with the smallest-possible m...

Re: most valued microphone for voiceovers?
Home style USB microphones seem to be a good choice for the beginner. Relatively inexpensive, good sounding, versatile, and easy to set up. That is if everything goes well. They can have their shortcomings. -- You can't have a noisy computer because you can't get more than one USB cable away from th...

@KCTvinyl (most of which is stereo)
Behold the danger of dropping in on someone else's forum message. Their job is mono, not stereo.

Re: Audacity, Big Sur and Focusrite Scarlett 2i2
Just starting out in voiceover A word about the 2i2. It's a native stereo (two-channel, hence the "2s") interface and it does that perfectly well. What it doesn't do quite as well is mono recording, dealing with a single microphone. The single microphone you will be using for voiceover wo...

Re: Polarity using two recordings
There is a fourteenth century microphone trick about this. You can record in remarkably noisy environments by jamming two Electro-Voice microphones against each other and into the same microphone connection—out of phase. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PhaseReversingMics.jpg Note one of them...

I use iShowU Audio Capture on my MacBook Air I use iShowU on my Mini. It does use multiple-recursive pathways, so it's a little magic.
