Re: intermittent background noise

In its cardioid configuration, the Yeti Pro has a dead spot directly behind the microphone (I know this is the wrong microphone type). http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/CardioidPattern.png You could arrange the computer directly behind the mic while you're performing. http://kozco.com/tech/auda...

Re: intermittent background noise

Ignore everything but the furniture moving pad doubled over on the table. That was a radio broadcast I shot.

Re: intermittent background noise

If you listen very carefully, does your computer fan go on and off on occasion? Once you identify room noises, it's something of a zoo to figure out where it's coming from. If you're close-talking to the Yeti Pro and you're reading from the computer screen, that means everything is scrunched togethe...

Re: intermittent background noise

Or are you talking about that little boost in noise at the seven second mark? In any event, I have been able to get significant improvement by applying the rumble filter and noise reduction. Attached. I think the background noise is from a motor, air conditioner, heater or other noisemaker in the ro...

Re: Enhance the sound of a clip

On amplifying there is no noise as it was completely cleared. But the main voice is sounding like coming out of a pipe. Completely clearing the noise is what makes it sound like it's recording in a pipe. If you didn't leave any "blank" areas inside the performance then Noise Reduction is ...

Re: Audacuty hangs when pressing stopbutton

Save it to a new filename. If the show goes toes-up while you're saving to your one and only project, it could take both down. Also, in that same line, make sure you have good WAV sound file backups of all your original work or recordings. It should never be necessary to read a live performance (for...

Re: Setting directories and temp usage locations

You may underestimate the performance hit you take by shoveling off Audacity's job to the spinning metal drive. Somebody at work and I had similar machines except for my SSD drive. The first time I had to use his, I thought it was broken. Audio production is data intensive and real time. There is no...

Re: Eliminate sounds throughout an entire file all at once

Before you do anything, Export the work as a backup WAV (Microsoft) file and save it someplace safe. It's a very common new-user mistake to edit and correct an original recording with no backup. If anything bad happens to the computer or Audacity in the process, you could lose all the work and have ...

Re: Adding randomized silence (Windows 10, Audacity 2.1.3)

A note. You can't actually stop and start tones like turning on a switch. Screen Shot 2018-01-22 at 16.22.05.png There is significant distortion at the stop and start points. It's not pure tone. On pipe organs it's call "chiff," the difference between pressing the key and the time the note...

Re: Delay effect..

As a fuzzy rule you can't listen to yourself on the computer during a live performance. Your voice has to be digitized, go into Audacity, turn around, turn into analog and come back out. That all takes time. There's always an echo. Perfect Overdubbing (to illustrate one case) is done with an externa...
