Re: recording levels, cannot change

How can I change the floor so that it starts recording at 0? Are you talking about the blue waves? Screen Shot 2018-01-26 at 18.24.22.png You can have a broken microphone and have a flat line that settles somewhere other than zero. I don't have a very good picture of this. Re: Clipping at -6db

Phantom is on 48v. It's good to know that. I followed a highly respected consulting engineer around the company. He wasn't doing anything I couldn't do, except he took zero shortcuts and made no assumptions. He liked talking about it and I took notes. Most people hire him and he vanishes into the w...

Re: Noise Floor Woes/ Mastering for Audiobook Help!

This is definitely an amateur job, Unless you're going to give tours, it doesn't have to be elegant. One poster did it with plumbing supplies. It's pushed together. No glue. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PVCStudio-1.jpg http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PVCStudio-2.jpg I did it with furniture...

Re: Mono recording is recording from bother channels

recording in stereo and looking at the channel of interest.
It's easy to convert to mono. Use the drop-down menu on the left of the track > Split Stereo to Mono.

[X] Delete the silent track. The one remaining will be mono and play to both speakers.

I'm too nervous to trust the program now.

Re: intermittent background noise

If you're referring to loud ticks, you can go into each one with the magnifier and remove them manually. That's assuming you only have a handful or so. Occasional sharp, loud ticks is the rough one. I get those on my machine and I have no idea where it's coming from. That's when you start to worry a...

Re: Clipping at -6db

We're doing this whole posting so far under the assumption nothing is broken. It might be. When you're using the Zoom as a MicPre and digitizer, is it using its internal batteries or the battery on the USB cable? Are you sure? You never came back to assure us the Zoom is set for 48 volt phantom powe...

Re: Noise Floor Woes/ Mastering for Audiobook Help!

If the clicking goes away, you'll know it's something in your building. It's not clicking. It's almost classic electric motor noises. Listen to the sample. And it's complicated by not being there all the time. So even if you do move out temporarily, it's rough to know if it worked or not. There was...
