Shift-R and R are reversed in Audacity 2.2.1. Everybody complained that R would not append a recording to the end of an existing track. Now it does.
There may be a preference for this.

Once you place the file in the Plugins folder, close everything back out to the application. Don't try to launch it. In Audacity, Effects > Add/Remove Plugins. You should be able to find it and activate it. I've been known to select them all and install everything. From there, open your show and app...

One more possible problem.
Do you have a mixture of USB2 and USB3? Try switching to a different USB port. Audacity will "lose" the device when you unplug it. Restart Audacity or Transport > Rescan...

UCM202HD It's UMC202HD. What's the job? Do you have it set for stereo? The UMC202HD is a native stereo device. I have devices that don't like crossing Stereo/Mono. That's why knowing the job is important. I expect you to be able to play a stereo song in Audacity and hear it in your stereo headphone...

This is one of the corrections of that problem. I don't know if it's current.

Is it possible it is a soundcard issue? No. You're holding the soundcard. USB or FireWire connections go around the built-in soundcard. There was a recent post from someone who exclusively used external devices because his built-in hadn't worked in years So not only does it have to announce itself ...
