Re: Rhythm track being recorded onto new teacks
It's a click track if you produced tick sounds from the Generate tools, It can be a drum track if you live-recorded you or someone actually playing drums. A generic "backing track" is anything you're playing into your headphones and performing to. The goal of overdubbing is to produce a ne...

Re: Is it possible to remove background noise on this recording?
on the subway. Noise Removal works in two steps. Step one is the Profile step where you identify a stretch of noise that's typical of what you want to remove. Step two is to actually remove the Profile noise from the show. Every subway I've ever been on the noise is constantly changing as the cars ...

Re: Non-Matching ACX Checks export into .mp3
Please note that Mastering is a "suite." A harmonious grouping. It's designed to work from an original reading. Don't add any tools in the middle or leave any out. The tools not only work effectively, but they clean up after each other. For example, the first tool, Filter Curve gets rid of...

[looking up "pillock"] No, but this is an all-volunteer army with the idea of getting Audacity running. It's totally possible someone is going to pop up and guide you through the mysteries of computer operation. It's a forum and the official idea is people with similar problems and complem...

Roland Edirol Firewire Audio Capture FA 66 ti It's not a cable. The FireWire type connection is typically found on early Macs. You can get a firewire card for your PC so you can plug FireWire things into it. I've done that. But you have to be comfortable ripping into your computer. If you're on rea...

Re: Non-Matching ACX Checks export into .mp3
I went to a fee sfx site You should tell them that if they ask. MP3 gets its small, convenient, reasonable quality files by rearranging sound tones and leaving some of them out. It's that last part that makes MP3 dangerous because once you make one, you can't back up. There are parts of the show ju...

I read that four times and I can't find the part where you tell us what's broken.
Give it another pass.
If you're planning on submitting to ACX, they tend to not like auxiliary sounds or music. Can you prove you have copyright for all that stuff? We assume you're submitting for payment?

Re: Help Changing/Switching Beat/Instrumental for recorded vocal
Also note that Audacity can't take a mixed song apart into individual voices, instruments, and sounds. Even if you have a mixed song and the vocals by themselves, the chances of splitting everything apart cleanly is not quite zero.

Re: Help Changing/Switching Beat/Instrumental for recorded vocal
The song has two tracks, one for Vocal and the other for instrumental. Is it a Stereo track? Vocals on the left and music on the right? If so, Use the drop-down menu on the left > Split Stereo to Mono. That will give two mono tracks (no more Left and Right). Open the new tracks in Audacity. They sh...

Re: Slow/laggy interface
@exwilson Macs give the spinning wheel when a job or task takes longer than the time allotted to it. You have a bottleneck or restriction somewhere. Your forum identity says you're on Windows. What else do you have running? Do you use cloud storage? How full is your internal drive? Do you have a spi...
