Re: AUDIO CABLES: Cleaner Recording
constant underlying hiss/buzz/noise in the background when I start recording. Unless you have an older Mac or a Desktop Windows machine, you don't have a stereo line-in connection and that's almost certainly where the damage is coming from. *I know the XLR or USB connection will sound better.* In g...

Re: Basic hook-up of Boombox to computer so I can use Audaci
The UCA202 digitizes the sound and delivers it as a digital bitstream to Windows. Windows makes it available to Audacity which can, among other things, turn a real time performance into a sound file. That's the recorder. Audacity is also a post-production editor and can be used to break up the perfo...

Open a copy of the show in Audacity. Tracks > Mix > Mix Stereo to Mono.
Does the show vanish?
Don't save anything.

Re: Cannot record guitar using Behringer UM2
Obsessive Details Windows 7 mounts a Behringer UM2 for dual channel: Microphone and Guitar. Plug the UM2 in and make sure the Power light on the front comes on. Right click the Windows Speaker icon > Recording devices. Find the right one. I don't know any handy spells other than it's going to mount ...

Re: Cannot record guitar using Behringer UM2
That worked. I shot a sound test with a naked RCA cable on the right featuring my thumb, and me on the left. It's heavily cut to get it under ten seconds.
I'll post again with details.
Real life calls.

And no, most modern microphones will handle absurdly loud volumes without significant distortion.

Re: Art M-One Condenser Mic clipping like crazy (loud singin
That's my guess. Some Windows installs tried to cure the wide-spread complaint that live recording is too quiet by applying a boost.ensure that Windows is not applying "boost" to the recording level

Re: 2.2.1 normalize
No. Normalize is a sister to Amplify. They both just turn the volume up and down.
Normalize has Remove DC which is an actual effect and Amplify can cause clipping damage intentionally, but assuming you didn't use either of those, you can use either effect again and again.
