Re: Yeti microphone for Podcasting

Audacity will record from one USB thing at a time. Anybody have a laptop you can borrow? Nobody wrote you have to do all this on one computer. https://www.presonus.com/products/audiobox-usb That one? That's the answer. You plug your two analog microphones into the front and they should automatically...

Re: Yeti microphone for Podcasting

There was one video where the recording engineer gave everybody little stand-alone sound recorders about 2" (50mm) on a side and everybody clipped one onto their shirt. Collect all the recorders after the show, off-load each sound track and edit your brains out. It looked a little weird, but th...

Re: Utterly clueless, need help with "swishy" noise problem

There's some very serious problems with the clip. It's very low volume and it has noise reduction processing applied to it. That's why it sounds like talking in a tube or a wine glass. I'm not sure where to start. Audacity has two different ways to tell your recording volume. The blue sound waves an...

Re: Yeti microphone for Podcasting

One of the problems with USB microphones is they're super non-expandable. Your choices are use a single microphone or go home. There is no two or three USB microphones. You are describing a small sound mixer and two analog microphones in a quiet room. If you can do that, of course you can optionally...

Re: Utterly clueless, need help with "swishy" noise problem

I'm in the field right now. It will take me a bit to listen. My personal favorite is an actual microphone USB adapter. I have a Behringer UM2. If you do that, you won't need the little phantom power device because Phantom Power is built-in to the UM2. That's it to the left of my laptop. http://kozco...

Re: Utterly clueless, need help with "swishy" noise problem

I'm flying blind until I hear the work. Apparently, I'm trying to download the entire half-hour show in WAV. Can you cut down, like select the first minute and File > Export Selected? I don't have the best internet connection. I have to go out every so often and shoo the birds away from the wires to...

Closer.

Apparently, this is going to take the rest of the afternoon to download. Can you cut and post a minute or 30 second clip and post that. Make sure the cutting has the damage.

Re: Utterly clueless, need help with "swishy" noise problem

Doesn't that microphone take phantom power? Is there a box you plugged in and forgot to mention? http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=333031#p333031 Compare that to the home-made cable I produced to do the same job. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/UnbalBalAdapter.jpg Note my adapter only has...

Re: Utterly clueless, need help with "swishy" noise problem

a Marantz Professional MPM1000 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone with Windscreen, Shockmount, Tripod Stand and XLR Cable Nothing wrong with any of that, but what did you plug the XLR cable into? There are no XLR connections in most computers and the computer connection causes a lot of troubles. ...

Re: Utterly clueless, need help with "swishy" noise problem

I'm having trouble getting your Project. It's possible DropBox doesn't "know" what those filetypes are. Please Export a WAV (Microsoft) of the work and post that. However, even without hearing it, Windows, left to its own devices will try to help you by applying voice processing. The voice...
