Re: extract instrument from music

It is an mp3 if that is important Only in that MP3 creates some background sound damage that makes production editing very difficult. Audacity can't split up a song into individual instruments, voices or sounds. It's still very highly recommended that you record songs and podcasts as individual tra...

Re: How do I record a discord call?

I make them sound evil incarnate, but the problem is pretty ordinary. The only way chat programs can maintain echo-free, stable sound between multiple people many time zones apart is to get a white-knuckle death grip on the sound services inside each computer. Part of that death grip is prevent you ...

Re: How do I record a discord call?

There is no recommended process for recording both sides of a chat program on one computer. Anybody can record their own microphone because that's a service of their own local computer. But the far side voice is a service of Skype or other communications program, and they don't play well with others...

Re: End of audio file cut off and not included in mp3 conver

Does the show surgically clip off only the end music ? Save the Project as a backup different filename just to avoid any damage from testing. Never Save Project As the current name. Use Save for that. Does your odd music track play by itself in a fresh Audacity ? Will it export as an MP3? Add a new ...

Re: "Side-by-side configuration error" after Windows 10 upda

Did you get Audacity from us? https://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/ This error can occur when a DLL file has been corrupted or deleted, or if it simply does not yet exist on the machine (in the case of upgrade installs of Windows). This may be a symptom of a virus trying to access DLLs and ...

Re: Basic hook-up of Boombox to computer so I can use Audaci

you CAN get distortion if you try to go over 0dB.
And some soundcards sooner than that. This is one of the errors that can cause flat-topping at 50%. The Stereo/Mono cross isn't the only one.

Re: AUDIO CABLES: Cleaner Recording

Consult your instructions.
I can't stress that enough. The quality of this hand-off determines the quality of the music. If you offended the sound gods, the music connection will be noisy, mono (not stereo) and easy overloaded and distorted. For some machines, that's normal.

Re: AUDIO CABLES: Cleaner Recording

You should forget recording MIDI. It's sheet music. If you record a MIDI performance and play it on your computer, it will play the MIDI instruments on your computer , not the instruments in your keyboard. It's like handing sheet music to someone. They will play the song OK, but on their instrument....

Re: Yeti microphone for Podcasting

You can try out the microphones and see how they work before you lay out the bux to get your own. I picked that microphone because it's pretty common, quality is good and it's directional. The area directly behind the microphone is dead, so you can use that to suppress noises or sounds you don't wan...
