Re: My voice is being recorded lower than the pitch I am speaking?

Audacity has two processes really handy for audiobook readers. There is an Audiobook Mastering Suite. https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Audiobook_Mastering These tools guarantee two of the three ACX sound specifications from your performance sound file. This is a short-form version. https://www.koz...

Re: My voice is being recorded lower than the pitch I am speaking?

I read a post on here that mentioned trying a 16-bit float You should leave the 32-bit float alone. Audacity needs that to avoid sound damage during editing. My guess is the sample rate. You can get an almost perfect one note shift by going between 48000 video rate and 44100 audio CD rate. You can ...

Re: What am I missing?

There is another example of this problem in the Audacity tools. There are two ways to identify individual musical tones in a performance. You can tell the timeline to display the work in rainbows with the colors representing different tones. This instead of traditional timeline blue waves. You can a...

Re: What am I missing?

@FL Coast This would highlight the track from the cursor back to zero. No, it doesn't. It highlights back to zero and three seconds beyond . You can reveal this extra magic area with the Time Shift Tool. I can well imagine the developer discussions about what to do about that weird area. You just ge...

Re: Do you use Audacity? I would love to interview you

@Jessej

Since the request was four months ago, can I assume you either found someone to interview or killed the show? If you did complete the show, where is it?

Re: audacity crashing when pressing play or space bar

Do any of your tracks have a sample rate of 32000?
Fascinating. 32000 isn't a native, supported sample rate? That's alarm bells. I'm pretty sure one of my ordinary sound recorders produces 32000 rate files straight out of the plastic wrap. I need to look.

Re: audacity crashing when pressing play or space bar

A "bug" is when it happens to everybody else, too. It's good not to automatically use the "bug" word, particularly if you're requesting help from the people you're accusing of making mistakes. We should figure out what's wrong. How long is the show? Are you trying to use iCloud? ...

Re: Recording is limited to ±0.5 on Windows

In most cases, if you set the device (in the Windows Sound control panel) to "1 channel mono", then the device driver will deliver just the left channel (the same as occurs on Linux).
[Writing that down.]

Re: Recording is limited to ±0.5 on Windows

Sometimes the maker of the interface will provide a solution in their driver software. Any luck there? It's not crazy talk to assume somebody is going to want to use your stereo interface for one microphone on Windows—and expect it to work.
