Re: Decibel/ volume reader
It's not 60dB. It's -60dB . Sound starts out at 0dB maximum loudness and goes quieter to the digital limit, -96dB. It's important to keep that "-" in there. The numbers actually get smaller. That bothers everybody. I saw one page where they decided to start measuring at the quiet point and...

Re: Simulate car stereo sound?
Not in the way you think. Make any change to the sound through Effect > Equalization and build the scene into the script. "Here we are in the car.." There is no standard " car stereo sound button." The other way is make a very minor change to the sound (any change) and add backgr...

Re: Muted tracks unmuting after soloing other track
A new feature is you can change the behavior of the MUTE and SOLO buttons. Some like the buttons to automatically toggle and switch, some like "dumb" buttons.
Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Tracks > Track Behaviors.

Re: How to adjust multiple gains at once?
several songs that have a large number of tracks involved. I've adjusted various gains to the point that the tracks are drowning each other out I personally would not be editing several songs at once. But if you are, you can make really good use of the MUTE and SOLO buttons to the left of each trac...

Re: Decibel/ volume reader
Raw recording of your voice can be measured with the Audacity bouncing sound meter and the blue soundwaves on the timeline. The sound meter should bounce up roughly between -6dB and -10dB. The blue sound waves tips should reach up to about half-way—0.5 (50%). That's a good comfortable volume between...

Re: Audacity 2.2.1 & zoom H2n mic/recorder
A quick note: It's very highly recommended you record high quality performances by not using the computer. If you look over all the problems people have recording good quality audiobook or other performance works, the initial days of troubleshooting have to do with beating the computer into submissi...

Re: Audio file is WAY shorter than video file
If you split the sound from the video, you may need additional software for Audacity to recognize the sound format. It's very common for Audacity to play a "mystery file" at many times faster than it's supposed to be. Install FFMpeg software. Scroll down. https://www.audacityteam.org/downl...

Re: Pc crashed, saved files were deleted. Why?
I'm missing 602 or so files I'm not sure I understand that one. Audacity saves your show as a series of 6-second sound snippets. If the machine goes down in the middle of editing, some of those files can become corrupted. That's the orphan files thing. I don't know I've ever heard of flushing files...
