Re: Stereo Bleed After Exporting

changed Dither to None and that resolved the issue.
It solved that particular issue, yes.

32-Floating is the only one that doesn't need it. I thought it went off by itself, but if it doesn't, you can turn that one off manually.

Re: Corrupted File

When you selected Save As:, did you already have a project and you were creating a second or backup?

Re: Stereo Bleed After Exporting

Audacity adds a dither signal to WAV exports to keep the bit depth conversions from lining up and becoming audible. Audacity edits internally in 32-floating. When you export, it has to convert to 16-bit, a lower grade, common format. To prevent occasional digitizing errors it adds shaped noise. Does...

Re: Low RMS levels

Picking your brain for free, I almost feel guilty. The longest posting on the forum was Ian in Hollywood (the neighborhood, not the metaphor). 39 chapters and over a year. He was trying to read for audiobooks in his apartment on La Brea. That's it. That was the whole job. Do you work for hire? Just...

Re: Is the latest version of iTunes compatible w/ Audacity 2

You're dragging from iTunes onto the desktop and then into Audacity, right? If you're trying to go direct, you may need to install the FFMpeg format translation software. https://www.audacityteam.org/download/mac/ Scroll down. Depending on how you did it, your iTunes music is in Apple AAC format. I ...

Re: Problem with noise

I think you're using too many cables. Unplug the analog cable between the mixer and the computer. Computers stopped supporting good quality, high volume, analog stereo connections a long time ago. Open the Windows control panels and see if you can find the mixer. Right-click the Windows speaker lowe...

Re: How to Control Specific Audio Levels / Set Limits

You just described what Chris's Compressor does. Evens out the volume variations in a show and makes it all louder. https://theaudacitytopodcast.com/chriss-dynamic-compressor-plugin-for-audacity/ You are presented with a control panel when Chris runs. I have only ever changed the first number, Compr...

Re: Linearizing "Plot Spectrum" Fourier Transform

Unless it got changed, I think the values up the left change to keep maximum display for the loudest spike. So yes, it's a little rough to directly compare multiple values. Further, if you've been working hard to minimize your studio noise and nothing seems to be happening, you should keep strict no...

Re: How do I set tracks to be L or R with Audacity 2.2.1?

I think you're working too hard. There is no Tracks menu. You go to the left of each track and drag the slider. Everything else follows you. Left, Left, Center, Right, Right, Half Volume. About that fast. Have you been reducing the volume of the rear tracks? I think I would. Those don't contribute m...

Re: record music into separate tracks

I don't think there are very good ways to push one button and everything just works. There is a silent sense program that claims to be able to find and mark the spaces between songs, but any noise on the record or a quiet performance and that stops working. Most people want to stop long enough to su...
