Re: Can't open a project

says missing blocks still Oddly, that could be a different problem. Do you use Save Project As: for everything? There is an error if you use the wrong command that Audacity may lose parts of the show. The error is gone in v2.2.2. It took us a while to find it because it only happens if you cross Sa...

Re: Break an audiobook down into chunks

Missed a step. After you form the labels (don't forget to put one at the beginning), File > Export > Export Multiple.

Re: Noise Reduction remnants.

In cases this got lost, I'm following this audiobook mastering document. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=96103 If you already have everything, it's just three tools listed under — Process: After that, Effect > Noise Reduction 9, 6, 6. Yes, from earlier, where you get the profi...

Re: Can't open a project

The forum is pretty small and will not allow you to post large works, folders or sound files. Can you make a folder on your desktop? Drag the Copy; AUP and _DATA into the folder and change the names back to the original. That should be valid because then the two shows will not be able to see each ot...

Re: Noise Reduction remnants.

an old Rode NT2 There's nothing delicate about an NT2. It's rated at 147dBSPL. That's like recording a diesel locomotive with two jets going over. The "basket" (grill on the front) is made to be a little gooshy so as not to get in the way of the sound, so I'm not shocked if it took a hit ...

Re: Audacity Processing / Sound Card?

I import a .wav file and apply an effect, then export audio. And just because nothing about this is ever perfectly easy, if you do that whole dance and don't change anything in the middle , you still don't get a perfect copy at the other end. Audacity runs a special sound format in the middle to av...

Re: Can't turn off microphone pickup of sound

Are we ignoring the elephant? I see a web cam in there. That will give you room noises. Next time you try this, you might do the scratch test to see where the sound is actually coming from. Start a recording and scratch (never blow) each microphone in your system. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/clip...

Re: Noise Reduction remnants.

The diaphragm gets momentarily stuck* in a displaced position, then frees itself suddenly with a click. That's when you get the capsule replaced. Depending on the microphone, plates touching will cause the bias to blow a hole in the diaphragm. Yet another reason to avoid blowing into any microphone...

Re: Noise Reduction remnants.

And another note, the Raw Clip peaks come in roughly -15dB, missing the louder -6dB to -10dB recommended live performance volume range. That, too causes stress on the post production process. You can reduce the volume of the background noise or you can get louder. Both work. Both together are recomm...
