Re: Chris Capel's Dynamic Compressor
A note: When you run it, it doesn't say " Chris's Compressor!!! " It says " Compress dynamics ". So it's easy to miss. I run it at slightly different settings than factory. I change the first setting Compress ratio from default 0.5 to 0.77. It gives stiffer compression and matche...

Re: Noise Reduction remnants.
This is where that "L" comes from. It's roughly the pattern the equalizer tools makes when it's suppressing bass notes (thin green line). Click the graphic.

Re: audacity stopped recording on Mac from Behringer Xenex 1
You should know that if the USB is interrupted for any reason, Audacity will lose the sound device—forever. Restart Audacity or Transport > Rescan...

Re: audacity stopped recording on Mac from Behringer Xenex 1
Audacity gets sound from the computer, not the device. Apple > System Preferences > Sound > Input. Do you see your mixer there and does that sound meter bounce? I don't know why it would stop working mid-stroke like that. Do you have "help" on your machine? Skype? Close all other sound pro...

Re: exprting to MP3
There's a way around that. Right-click or Control-Click the installer. One of the options is "Open it Anyway?"
I can't remember what I did last time to get around this.

Re: Noise Reduction remnants.
I didn't pull down the instructions for this microphone, but my impression is the switches are reversed. I can check. The circle and heart switch changes from receiving sound from all directions (circle) and receiving sound mostly from the front. If you have room noise, it's totally recommended you ...

Re: Hiss in WAV file but not in Audacity
If nobody said this yet, Do Not Process the posted clips. No filters or effects. Record it, export and post it.
We can't take effects out of a clip and it just muddies the water when wer'e trying to fix something. Don't Help.

Re: Hiss in WAV file but not in Audacity
Fascinating. I can't make the clip pass Audiobook acceptance no matter what I do. It's always too noisy. The noise reduction tools and the audio analysis tools don't agree with each other. That's scary. Somebody is lying. There are some problems with posting a really short clip. At your standards, y...

Re: intermittent background noise
I'm sorry but I don't share your view that audio recording to computer will ALWAYS cause issues. I don't believe that's true - it does depend on the quality of the recording program, the mic and of course the sound card in the computer. And the speed of the computer absolute and compared with the d...

Re: intermittent background noise
OK, one and a half seconds is a little rough to deal with. In stereo you can post up to ten seconds. Some of those seconds should be your normal recording volume.
"Testing, One, Two Three." [ticks for seven seconds].
