Re: Saved file seems to have lost all data
DeEssed. Saved. Every time you Save (Project), Audacity steps on the original project with the corrections. During production, it's good to Save As a different project name , so it stops making changes to the original show. Even further, it's good to Export the work as a perfect quality WAV (Micros...

Re: How to record to external device?
But thanks, will check it out. I don't think Labels is going to do what you want, but read up on it. Index marks burned into the sound file is what most people want, but the native WAV format doesn't allow that. That's the warning that it's going to fall apart when you leave the recorder. Labels is...

Re: CRASHING, DEMOLITION OF HOURS OF WORK
saving it in a wav file first, before editing. It's good to know a lot more about that WAV file. There is a known bug in Audacity before 2.2.2. 2.2.2 was rushed out when we discovered the damage being done by scrambling Save and Save As. It's possible not to run into this bug if you Save your work ...

Re: Naming projects for export
And that's if you're sticking in the Windows universe. If you have to transfer files universally between multiple different computer types and ages, the list gets smaller: Upper, Lower, Numbers, -Dash- and _Underscore_. The slash marks in particular can cause very serious problems. Today is not 3/8/...

Re: Using Audacity with External Podcast Studio
Then reinstalled. Restarted Audacity. I know it seems all encompassing, but reinstalling Audacity doesn't do what you think. To "really" reinstall Audacity you have to reset it too. While it's gone, Go (top of desktop) > Go to Folder: ~/Library/Application Support Don't forget to put that...

Re: Missing Audio Data Blocks
he was determined to analyze and fix the underlying programming faults "under the hood" So he wants to make Save As revert to Save actions safely and correctly if you don't put a new filename in? I think that's dangerous. At least one poster assumed he was somehow getting separate, isolat...

Re: How to record to external device?
Olympus WS-832. Cool. I have two. Hold on to them with white knuckles. If you search for that model number now, they push you off to a different model that's much simpler (no more cool tricks) and doesn't have WAV support. Such as giving the ability to add index marks. Audacity will do that on the ...

Re: Using Audacity with External Podcast Studio
You do know how to do the scratch tests, right? Scratch each microphone and announce where you are? Never, ever , blow into a microphone. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/ScratchTest2.mp3 Restart Audacity. Audacity looks for audio devices when it starts. If you had Audacity already running when ...
