Re: recording flatline with UR12
how I can get the microphone to record in Audacity? If the bouncing green sound meters in Audacity are moving and you get blue soundwaves when you record, you are getting a show whether or not you can hear it. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/AudacityRecording-650w.jpg I don't know why the he...

Re: How to record to external device?
Now that it's too late. That adapter may not be the one for you. Turns out the tape (actual tape) machines took a smaller connection and not the standard 3.5mm we all know and love. I did it with a standard cable and a stand-alone adapter. 3.5mm > 2.5mm. I also took the opportunity to convert from t...

Re: CRASHING, DEMOLITION OF HOURS OF WORK
Exporting to WAV (or AIFF) immediately after recording is a good practice. There is no sound quality difference between those two. AIFF has better support for extras such as show information. However, WAV (Microsoft) is unconditionally accepted across all three computer types. You may have trouble ...

Re: CRASHING, DEMOLITION OF HOURS OF WORK
second failure's original WAV to start editing all over again Exactly correct. Losing an edit is awkward and inconvenient; everybody's been there. Your show will be late. Losing the show completely is most serious. I did gloss over several twists and turns. The first Project Event is Save Project a...

Re: Audacity 2.2.2 really slow
When was the last time you did a clean start?I run Audacity on Win7 Professional.
Shift-Shutdown > Wait for it to finish > Start.
Regular shutdown doesn't reset everything because nobody liked the extra time it took.

If it's still open now, can you Edit > UNDO?
Once you close Audacity, it wipes all its background saved work. In MacOS and Linux, that's the end.

Re: Saved file seems to have lost all data
That's Full Obsessive Mode . Export a WAV file of the original recording. Duplicate that somewhere else if it's not recoverable. Thumb drive? Save a Project during and at the end of the first day's edit. Save a different Project during and at the end of the second day's edit. Save a different projec...
