Re: Recording volume way too low... can't work out why

Exactly the same configuration when I record a Skype call using Evear is a wonderful perfect volume level. Doesn't count. Skype uses its own processing and tools and sets it's own variables and volumes. Skype takes over the computer while its running and you have very little to say about it—which m...

Re: dumbing down mp3 files

You are about to experience the reason we tell people never do production in MP3. If you open the 128 quality files in Audacity and do nothing else but export them as 128, your export quality is a combination of the two. So you could have just created 64 quality shows. Certainly not 128. Some of tha...

Re: Will playing clipped audio damage speakers?

it is "chopped off" with loss of information Loss of show information. At the clipping points, the waves no longer follow the instruments or voices in the show. But the system doesn't just give up and go home. Any abrupt, sharp change in direction of the waves makes new tones and they uni...

Re: choppy voice recording

Tried it all to no avail.
"It All" meaning shut down all the apps, disconnecting the network, etc?

I don't have High Sierra, so we need to wait for someone who does. We're still missing that one step where you can force priorities. I've never needed it, so it's not to hand.

Re: Needing help with Vocal Isolation

There's stereo-reverb on Angela's vocal
And for the same reason, it's not going to isolate it, either.

Re: How to record to external device?

They covered their bases by selling you a conventional 3.5mm stereo cable and two 2.5mm adapters. So you are totally covered. This isn't as crazy as you think. The adapters are 3.5mm stereo to 2.5mm mono. plus the cost of the regular stereo cable (about $5 usd). I don't remember where I got mine fro...

Re: Cannot use this Software!

There is no Help Desk. However, the forum covers nine time zones in semi-real time and more if you want to wait a bit. So if you require immediate response, then maybe Audacity isn't for you. Please note even if you do get your job working, you may find that it's not push-a-button simple. You still ...

Re: 2.2.1 not recording audio

While you can force that to work poorly, it's likely to need special purpose sound adapters, it's easy to overload, clip and distort and it's mono, not stereo. I use the Behringer UCA-202 on my Air. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo-650.jpg It will plug into either computer t...

Re: Noise Reduction remnants.

"Narrated by Ian M. Walker...." Perfect. You should do them all that way. Fair warning ACX expects all the chapters to match, so that may be a juggling act. Your clip passes ACX perfectly, but I didn't use the standard corrections. Instead of the first tool, Equalization, I substituted Ef...

Re: some MP3 contents unable to heard

Oh, there is another way. Again, assuming a stereo show, Drop-down menu > Split Stereo to Mono. [X] delete one of the two tracks.
