Re: help with importing from a flash drive

Take some stuff off your internal drive and do the show there. Doing anything with a full system drive is begging loudly for trouble. Remember when you move valuable work to keep two copies on independent devices. I'm not usually a cloud person, but one external drive and a copy on cloud storage sho...

Re: I need to reduce the gain

View > show clipping. That will show you if Audacity thinks there is any sound damage. Just Turning Yellow is the recommendation for live reading, so you should be OK .

Don’t scramble Save Project and Save Project As. That’s the one that causes trouble. Audacity 2.2.2 gets it right.

Re: I need to reduce the gain

You need to upgrade to 2.2.2. Now is good. We discovered a wacky problem in 2.2.1 that can cause show sound damage.

You can’t do that in Audacity, but you may be able to do that in Windows control panels.

You got lucky.

Live coverage extends over about 9 time zones (I'm in California). So if you catch the right elf at the right time, the response can be scary fast.

Re: Audacity couldn't record!

Dueling posts.

It could still be size. A new song will be a lot smaller than an established song.

Re: Audacity couldn't record!

There's a fuzzy recall of a problem like this. Audacity tries to record to its cache system and it's either not there at all, or possibly the Virus Protection system is "helping you" by destroying the work. There's another one, too. The machine is running out of room. The video people have...

Re: Audacity couldn't record!

I'm totally dependant on Audacity for my music recording
So this used to work?
Did you do any upgrades or updates? This is the kind of thing people get right after the phrase "My new computer."

Re: Crossfade, CrossTrack, CrossAnything

neither have a Crossfade option available under the Effects menu Are you suuuuure? I'm on 2.2.2 and Effects > Crossfade Clips and Crossfade Tracks are both available. But. They're in the second blob of effects with my Mac built-in effects in the middle. If I didn't know to scroll down, I'd never fi...

Re: ASX Check not loading in Audacity

Please note ACX Check (not ASX Check) can be faked out. It looks for a half-second of room tone (room noise without you) to measure for Background Noise. If it doesn't find it, it measures as close as it can get. Background noise in that case may be wildly noisier than it really is. Since Home Recor...

Re: Batch convert Stereo to mono

Mono sound files play to both sides of your headphones. Is there any reason you insist on creating "Dual Channel Mono" (not really stereo). I don't know if this exists in the Chains repertoire, but if you nudge the pan slider on the left just the slightest bit , an Export will be stereo in...
